Frankly, I've seen sillier usernames here, mine for example. So if a someone wants to use something unseemly as a moniker, that's on him or her. Most of his posts have been deleted, he is on notice. Regarding colors; I used AK’s streaking grime to highlight around bolts, creases, etc. I used Vallejo’s 70-822 German C Black Brown, just a very dark brown. It’s a color I’ve seen on abandoned machinery in dry climates. I’m not sure the modern metal of an M1 would corrode to the same color. Perhaps others could “chip in”? 😉Twenty six tanks, and not done yet!

Sometimes it’s to hot or cold to drive tanks outdoors so I was asked to build some simple “indoor use” tank obstacles. Here are a two in the “build” phase. 45 deg “break over” ramps with added traction aids for when “slow crawling” over the ramps is desired. Trust me the ramps are actually much steeper then they look in the photo.
I will be posting some videos of the “indoor use” obstacles being driven over on my Instagram page @ fsttanks.

I have not been on here for a while, what with COVID, changing jobs, renovating a house 350 miles from where we currently live, but I have been steadily working on this Abram, M1A2 since September when I purchased it error. I might have participated in some of Scotland finest malts, and hit the wrong button. I really wanted a Challenger. It might not represent an actual vehicle and has details robbed from many photographs, but I hope it captures the idea of a well used, but dependable vehicle going back into the fight, having been refuelled, rearmed and restocked for the crew. Electronics remains HL 6.0, but with the exhaust smoker removed, turret converted to 360% rotation, and a gun flash and smoke installed in the barrel. Detailing includes, scratch built bussel rack extension and stowage box handles, periscope lenses and drivers glass installed, commanders machine and loaders gun built from Tamiya and Amber PE parts, scratch built spare wheel mount on roof top and telephone box on rear, wire tow ropes and hangers, upgraded tracks and metal wheel, crew and additional crew stowage, flexible mud guards at front, painted and weathered.Various details made from wire, and bolt heads are made from different sized hexagonal plastic rod. Still need to detail the commander’s and loader’s hatch and fit wipers to the drivers position. I also need to weather the tracks and install engine mesh. Learnt a lot building this, and made many mistakes along the way. The hardest part was building the commander’s machine gun. This seemed to involve throwing most of the expensive Aber parts on the floor, never to be seen again, and the making my own from brass.

In other news; My Firefly target is here!!! Very chuffed, did the TMTR, and everything works. Also good; I did not get hit with import charges and other expenses.
It's a V7.0 with all the metal gears. I'm not extremely happy with the sound choices (Leopard or something oddly turbo-ish?) but the Leopard sound will do for now.
This one will run mostly as is, until the Shermans are finished. After that? Who knows. I did noticed the thing has no rear lights. Might fix that when the time comes. Already have a set of metal headlights that will be going on.
TTFN,
Rob
Sherman M4A3 105mm Houwitser / Sherman Firefly IC *under construction* / Panzer IV *awaiting side-grade from TK7.0S to TK6.0S* / Stug III / King Tiger / KV-1 *awaiting upgrade to TK6.0S* / Tiger I / T34-85 / Leopard 2A6 *waiting upgrade to TK7.0*... No, I do not have a problem....
