Hey Borat,
It isn't the length of the end bell and bearing seat that is critical in manual machining concentricity it is the tools you have and method in which you turn and bore the workpiece with a 3 jaw chuck. If you do not perform all the bores and turning with one mounting of the workpiece in the chuck the moment you remove it and flip it around or whatever the dead nuts position is lost and you wont find it again. If you can't cut everything in one mounting, then you need an independent 4 jaw chuck you can indicate back to 0 after you remove and remount the workpiece.🙈 The stack has to have laminations that are cut with EDM then built in jig that assures straightness and squareness. Best is bonded with c5 insulation and no dimples tabs. You cant really machine grind the assemble stack od and not deform and also change the metals alpha. Why not indicate the stack at the hammers for consistent height and roundness? A consistent air gap along the entire axial length with stamped steel stack of laminations maybe worth looking at or striving for.
A heavy bell is never a good idea for fast acceleration in the boat and if it is for a plane why not limit the rpm to 12,000 or so then you can use lightweight bell materials like a Mu meta flux ring with an aluminum bell around it? If its for a boat why not sleeve it for higher rpm? All you have to do is cut a slightly undersized mandrel wrap it with the cf yarn and epoxy then vacuum bag it. After its cured hopefully you used a release agent and you pull it off the mandrel. You make it longer and larger in od than you need so you can part it off to the length you want and turn it down to the od then hand polish it. The easy solution is to contract the sleeve work and just order it with a slightly undersized ID. If you press the bell on then you have your preload. Two 5020 magnets make a 5040 axial pole pair. Grind one sets width to observe the 7/8 ratio. Or find a different gen 5020 pm that is a different width close enough. I guess you could also align and press two 5020 bells into a high speed sleeve.

The Leponitt 100 watt Iron came in today. I purchased the additional Leponitt 250 watt rheostat so I can adjust the heat, but I have not received it yet. As it says on the box Leponitt supplies tools and machinery for the glass industry. I'm pretty happy with the aesthetics and tactile feel of the piece. It should generate plenty of heat at 100 watts. I have another large iron but the screws that hold in the tip have seized and I cannot get the tip out to replace it.

I have several already but just came across two very compact 3 phase heating elements that make excellent braking for a load generator to test dynamic load your rewound prime movers..👀. You can control this braking dynamically with pwm and NPN transistors on each element shorted to a shorting bar on one end while the other end of the heating element is hooked to each generator/motor terminal. I'm sure these are good for about 5-6 kW of dissipation . I have an friend that scraps and so he let me look through his piles before he goes to the recycling center.

My plan is to test half stator conventional winds and hybrids fired at 180 degrees with dual inverters. I know through empirical experience that this tandem can easily pull 400 continuous and 760 amperes peak
According to Steve 's site the saturation point for this core is over 1000 amperes at 6 volts or 6000 watts. He is a honest vendor.

Hi Borat
I see you are here....
Its tragic the plane, turbine, and 5050 were totally erased. I guess there is a lesson to learn from that......👀
Anywhoo for any entry level machinist such as yourself I recommend you get some type of machinist handbook

Oh and BTW I have to clear a misnaming by me in post #17. I told you to turn "bar stock" to check for tailstock alignment but I should have said 360 free machining Brass round stock or Aluminum round stock. "BARS" are truly rectangular "bar" stock . Sorry if that confused anyone.

A-42 Series - Scorpion Power System (scorpionsystem.com)
Scorpion A-4220 (Sport) PNP Combo (6s/70E/2109w) - Scorpion Power System (scorpionsystem.com)
Hey Borat! I see you are here. I guess i dont understand recreating the wheel when the original is more practical. The A series is clearly already set up for axial cooling and great partial load operation and so forth so what is the point then to make a frankenberry from the Helicopter series? Are you just having fun? Then why not the axial pole pair and a turbo cool folder spinner from UWE to top it off........🙈

Hi Borat,
With this you tube video as a final chapter in a series... Ron, Luke, and I have shown you the secret to post assembly magnetization for segmentations and the axial pole pair. You magnetize post assembly with a high voltage capacitor and 2 tooth coils wound on the stator 180 degrees apart .
