  • Looks incredible Steve!

On another topic, has anyone tried a 12 blade fan with the stock 6 cell setup?

I've got 26 flights on mine with the stock setup, but would like a little more "whoosh".

Can the stock setup handle a 12 blade without ribbing too much power? Anyone have experience trying this?

        • Yeah Steve and GO NAVY.
That's like taking a trip back in time for me when a buddy with the same last name was attached with the Jolly Rogers and I got to see his aircraft (#200) that he was plane captain of on the fighter flight line at NAS Oceana in 1975.
In 76 I got to see them transition from the F-4 to the F-14 and then the next year in 77 they went aboard the Nimitz( the F-14 Aros modeled) when I was getting out just before another Med cruise.
          I love this hobby :)

                      • Was thinking about going with the Arf+ then adding a hotter 6S or even a 8S edf combo. But it sure adds up quickly. Even if I stay 6S, the FMS 90 with 130 amp esc is ~ $180.00 + $389.00 Not sure how much more performance this or a 8S setup would provide.

Doesn’t seem like there’s a compelling reason to stray from the stock 6S or stock 8S unless I’m missing something.

                        • I could see doing a nice Jetfan 90 on 8S like Pat has done but yes it would be some moolah!

As you’ve discovered, there really isn’t any compelling reason to swerve from the stock offerings - if finances are the driving factor. Motion has done a good job of putting together packages that are dang good for the money.

On the other hand; if you already have a good setup laying around, the jump in cost from the ARF to the RTR is probably money needlessly spent. And shopping the For Sale ads can often come up with something a little more reasonable than buying all-new gear and potentially more in line with what we want, power-wise.

Still. The setups Motion has provided for all their stuff really are mighty good, especially when weighed against cost for alternatives.

Speed costs - how fast can you afford to go?

                                    • Pike,

Thanks! I don’t want to do this on the cheap but.... Need an opinion on a Changsun 90 12 blade with a RC Landers 1620 kv inrunner. 6.83 # of thrust. Not as many rpm’s as the stock 1750 but amp draw is slightly lower, even with 12B - about 2200 watts. I have a 100 amp esc waiting in the hangar.
