Same here. All of my current favorites are:

      F-22
      F-18C
      A-10
      F-14

I am now on my 3rd F-22 airframe. Crashed the first one due to stupidity (saved the 12S power system though), and dorked the 2nd one on a bad landing on a windy day. Crumpled up the nose but was able to glue it back together and continue flying. #3 airframe comes tomorrow.

I am also on my 3rd A-10 airframe. This one is my all-time favorite EDF. Crashed the first one due to a lockout (fixed the issued that caused it), and the second one has almost 200 flights and is looking shabby. Last weekend I literally broke it's back when I landed too close to the edge of the runway, caught a bush, and tumbled it. Glued it back together and flew it several more times, but it's a frankenplane now. #3 airframe also arrives tomorrow.

I have F-18 #2 ready to go (warranty replacement) and hope to fly it Saturday.

Crashed my first F-14 a few months ago being stupid. Found a NIB one on RCG with the A-10 power system included, and decals for VF-1 Wolfpack. I will take my time with that one by sanding foam, filling holes, repainting and decaling.

I'm moving into larger EDFs and turbines now, but I plan to keep these 4 in the stable as long as possible (replacing airframes if necessary ).

      • Good list! My second A-10 is my Hangar Queen. I don't take her out often enough but when I do I am always thrilled with her. Might be Freewing's quintessential jet. I want to love the new F/A-18C Hornet but I am skiddish flying her due to all the issues reported, even if mine hasn't shown any gremlin tendencies yet. The F-14 never was a good fit for me. I think I had a lemon model. Always rolled to the right no matter what I tried to counter...Landings were stupidly too difficult. No matter what I did (high approach, low approach, fast approach, slow approach, flaps, no flaps, etc, etc) she would give me the Bucking Bronco every single time! To the point I started doubting my skills as a flyer. Yet, no other jet gave me that same issue so I chalked it up to that particular model.

        • One of my all time favorites is the 64mm A-10. It's my warm up jet, and still a blast to fly. Handles our rough grass field just fine, and still has the original retracts. Always a greaser with this one. Can't wait to get this F-22 in the air though.

                  • Gooniac: You NAIL the landings. Did you raise the nose when sitting on the ground? Seems to be sitting up higher or is it just me?

I haven't messed with the gear at all. However I have a really heavy motor in the plane that shifts the CG rearward. I haven't been using flaps until yesterday as well. the landings are even more impressive now! I will get them loaded and share later. I have a couple slow motion videos I need to upload to youtube and will share those as well.

                          • I have a question about installing a RC Geek CenterBurner in my 8s Raptor.
Mine came with a separate connector/adapter that appears to connect to the battery jst input. The other end of the adapter perfectly fits the balance port on my 6S lipo. I’m kinda new to electric stuff, I’ve flown nitro my whole life. What is this for? Is this for powering the CenterBurner through my BEC and I just simply connect it to my balance port of my 6s battery and I’m good to go instead of using a separate 2S power source? Is the stock bec ok for this? Any thoughts?

                            thanks
                            David

The way that this balance adapter is wired will pull 2s voltage from your 6s pack. Connect this to your balance lead on your battery and it will give your Centerburner the power it need to operate. No need to connect to anything else. Just the balance lead on your battery. My LED Afterburner set up works the same way by getting voltage through the adapter but it operates off of 3s voltage. Its really simple and easy.

                              • Currently this is my favorite 90mm jet. The flight/power envelope on 6S, mixed in with its light AUW and super easy landing ability is incredibly rewarding. Here's a flight from yesterday.

I am really glad that I waited to get one! The set up that I am using makes it a rocket when you want it to be but I did some laid back flying this past weekend and it was equally rewarding! Now that I am using flaps it is even more of a joy!! What a sweeeeeeeeeeeeet bird!!

                                  • Well boys I finally got my "Star Scream" F-22 Turbine conversion complete! I waited for the new X-45 to com in @ 10lbs of thrust instead of using the slightly bigger and heavier K30 @7.5lbs of thrust! This motors diameter is smaller than a soda can. This Turbine is bad to the bone, high quality, light powerful with a 2 stage compressors. The pump is brushless, and the GSU is small and super light weight. Super easy plug and play set up, NO programing needed from you radio for throttle trim settings as it already knows you radios end points, unlike the kingtech stuff which required the "in learning" process to get things set up. The pics show pretty straight forward installation right where the old EDF unit was. Made the fuel tank with a 33.6 ounce Fuji bottle that squeezed right over the CG area, not using a UAT to save space, so I'm using a felt tip clunk and air trap soft cover over it. Jet has JP wheels and brakes (60mm). 3 lipo backs to power everything; 950mAh/brakes, 2000mAh-50C/ECU, and 2000mAh/Servos along with a BEC. See pics. If you have any question let me know!

Thanks Skyboom! They are position lights bars (on the vertical stabs, wings, and forward fuse) for night ops and formation.

Looks like a nice project - be sure to keep is posted on the Xicoy turbine. It's the same guy behind Jets Munt Merlin engines, so I'm sure it will be fine. Extremely good specs on paper for sure.

I wonder how it learns your three throttle channel values though. It cannot already know (since this varies between radio systems as well as however you choose to program your radio for this particular model. So it has to detect the levels one way or another. Teaching throttle values is a one time task anyway, so hardly an important part to optimize
