So, this will get many opinions…. so here is my to cents. the F22 really doesn't need a gyro.... so if you are doing high alpha landings then a gyro would make it feel more locked in while providing you some safety.

I am using the RX600SP receiver in my F35 with 35% gains and with a switched on / off mode. I really like how it helps the low speed high nose up landings but really cant tell much in flight from gyro on or off. I believe the F22 and the F35 are stabile without any help but it doesn't hurt :)

Hey all,

I got the opportunity to fly the F-22 for the first time in a few months because the break in weather was long enough for the field to dry. I have the 8s version with a Spektrum AS3X receiver. One of the things I noticed on this flight was that the F-22 has a tendency to continue to bank once you pass the 45 degree point. Which is to be expected on any aircraft, even a C172. However it was VERY aggressive.

The combination of overcast sky, grey jet and lack of recent proficiency with the 22 accumulated to make me feel a little nervous. On base to final the plane became a silhouette, but I maintained my inputs and saw that blessed landing light come into view. Landed safely and noticed my right flying stab was pitching down without my input.

Inspection revealed that my push rod clip had come off and the servo was no longer connected to the control surface. Obviously this didn't happen in flight, but I am wondering if my increased awareness of the banking tendency is related.

Long story short: Why is the F-22 feel so unstable to me? Maybe CG? Which hasn't changed . I have 40+ flights with this aircraft.

Can I remove the intake lip of my jp 8s edf unit? I have heard when in a duct it is not necessary? Is the case in the F22?

Hello all, I just bit the bullet and bought the Freewing 90 mm F-22! I have it assembled and ready to fly. I’m using 6S 6000 ma packs. I’ve Been flying the Freewing 80 mm Avanti S and really love it. I installed a pitot tube and can get actual real time speed from it. I would love to do that to the F-22 as well but no where to put it. I installed the pitot tube in the nose of the Avanti, but would look stupid on the F-22. The F-22 have small pitot tubes on the side of the fuse like most modern jets. Anyhow, I’m really looking forward to the maiden flight as soon as it warms up a bit here in grey, cold SW Ohio.

Hello all, I finally found time to unbox and assemble my 90mm F22 and I have some questions. first off, with a admiral 5000 bat. I have to push the bat. back half way off the battery tray to even get close to neutral CG. with the gear up and the canopy cover installed it is still slightly nose heavy??...I see videos of guys pushing the bat. closer to the blue box and flying that way. I have checked my measurement (150mm from wing/fuse crotch) and accurately marked it. Do you all just fly nose heavy?Or is the plane not that sensitive? What am I missing.
Also, how much if any expo you guys using with this aircraft. I'm new to EDF, any advise would be appreciated. won't be flying till spring anyway. Thanks

In my opinion, with most of my models with retracts, I always check the CG balance with the gear down. With the F22 the plane will be slightly nose heavy with the gear up, but spot on for landing and takeoff. This is where the CG is more critical during slow flight.

I think it’s time for the Avengers got there own F-22! If $$@?;; Hydra can have one, then the Avengers definitely should have one! Great paint job!!!

These are all sold by motion! I believe these are the L-39s and they plug into the wing boards and blue box for power! I didn't use covers over them but I am sure they could be made.

Hi Has anyone encountered any loss of power (thrust) for about 3 seconds in flight? I have had about six flights where I could hear the edf motor stop completely without any input and come back on after about 3 seconds. During this time the model continues to fly and I have control over all surfaces. I use new batteries and my timer is set to 2:30 so I do not think its about running out of juice from the batteries, I have had one crash because on one occasion I panicked and put my throttle WOT and when the power came back online the model was in an attitude that was banking to the ground. Luckily damage was minor and I have since flown it again a couple of times. I also notice the BEC getting warm after a fight. I'm worried that this power loss will come when I am at a low altitude and can not recover in time. Appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks.

What batteries are you using? A low quality pack could hit LVC under heavy load.

Otherwise, I'd check every dang connection. Maybe replace the BEC. Maybe replace the receiver.

I use Turnigy 5000mAh 60C which has had no more than 20 cycles on it. I have used the same pack on my Freewing Avanti S and fly it for 4:20 with still lots of juice to spare. I use Admiral receiver and I can not recall any issues with it.

I have repaired and am still using the same fuse. all stock equipment and connections are by the book.

I saw on another forum (I think) maybe it was here, anyway a guy removed his EDF unit and discovered a burned power lead to the EDF, pinched between the foam and the intake flange. The power wires were burned almost through. I slipped a piece of polyethylene plastic between the power wires and the motor inlet flange on mine.
