I was able to score a dozen Tattu 6S 5200 35 C packs
that are around 650 grams each for 32 bucks a copy.
Was tired of different marks inside my planes. Am changing them over to EC5 now. Intend to keep it lite and swap out the packs early while charging 4 more at a time....lol
The sale is over as they went like hot cakes.
it was time to standardize as I had various brands that were 2-4 years old but still working fine.

For anyone else who is looking at a wheel swap to get scale sizes, here's the numbers I've come up with. This F-22 is ~1/12.6 scale. Stock wheels look to be the A-10 mains (3.3") and a 60mm(2.4") nose wheel. Scale size should be 1.8" for the nose, and 2.9" for the mains. I plan on swapping the nose wheel for the F-16 nose wheel (1.77") and likely leaving the mains stock for at least a while.

I have been flying the RT packs for 2 years now. I put these on an IR meter, and the 35C packs have a true C rating of 20C. For the 5800 packs, this means they can safely discharge at 116A continuous without damaging the pack. For the 6250 it's 125A. I have been flying these in all of my FW 80 and 90mm jets, and I've not had one pack puff or go bad. I have about 20 packs of these batteries, and the only ones I've retired are ones from crashes. These packs are rock solid, and I see no reason to have to get anything over 35C. In my F-4 I'm running a JetFan 90mm with a HET 700-68-1680kv motor, and RT 4S 5800 35C packs in series for 8S. Thanks Pat, I have read your posts over time and I can tell that you know what your talking about on R/C stuff, so that gives me confidence on making a decision.

I was hoping I could go with the 6250 for the longer flight times. And as a bonus the RT 6250 35c weighs 803g vs. the RT 5500 70c at 825g, so a lighter battery and more mah is a win, win.

Now the big decision is, do I get 6250 now or wait and let it be a Christmas present from my wife to me.....lol

Any thoughts on a elevon mix? Wondering if perhaps it was tried on the prototype. I’ll definitely set mine up with a switchable elevon configuration.

Glad to help! I’m flying off a geotex runway, and it will be swapped out before first flight. Already have my wheel on standby! I love all the surface detail on this bird, down to the boundary layer suction ports in the intakes and the RAM lines around the access panels.

That looks good, would love to see someone try this eventually. But I think this shows why thrust vectoring was hard to accomplish in this model. That's a lot going on back there, many more parts that can fail etc. But It will definitely be exciting to see people give it a try. Keep us posted for sure!

That is a fantastic deal. Wish I knew such a deal when it happens, I would've snatch up a dozen batteries as well. 32 bucks for a 6S Tattu, wow! These are good brand batteries.

Yes. Although it looks like something we can try to build, but I'm not gonna put a knife onto my New f22

Thrust vectoring on something like a Sukhoi might actually make sense, because of the 3D axisymmetric nozzles. You can do post-stall maneuvers like cobra snap roll and flat spins. The F-22 only has 2D thrust vectoring on the pitch axis, not sure how much more you can get out of the flight envelope other than adding a bunch of weight and complexity to the rear end.

I don't really think so. I normally don't say to load up stock aircraft beyond the recommended weights, but the F-22 is a rare exception. The added weight will allow you to keep your throttle setting higher for longer, allowing you to soak up energy during forward flight. That being said, I'd cap the 6s around 6250 as Crxmanpat listed above. In forward flight the model will take the weight well, but be advised your hovering and tail sit hangtime will suffer with heavier weight.

Could you give us 8s guys an idea of battery room we will have to play with? Obviously, the Admiral 5000 6s paired with the Admiral 5000 2s will fit. Is it a tight fit with this setup or do we have a anymore room for anything larger?

James posted a picture of two 6s 5000mah lipos in there side by side so I believe there will be plenty of room. The pictures of one 6s 5000 in there make the lipo look like a 4s!

The extra weight would negate the extra mAh.
