  • No problem at all Shirty. I believe Alpha's canopy was clear. With the new spoked canopy, I have a feeling any color we choose will come out a bit darker when we paint it from the inside. It's not a huge deal, but it will likely effect the final color in comparison to what a person thinks the color will look like without the smoked canopy plastic. If you are going with a black canopy then no problem, but a lighter color may be.

Alpha, have you tested painting the production canopy with the new tint so see what the final outcome of the appearance would be?

    • My pre-production canopy was 5% tint, the final production is 8%. The Tamiya Clear Blue I used is quite vibrant, but keep in mind it was also backed by white foam directly under the plastic, as mine was the original "no cockpit" foam part. The white backing enhanced the vibrancy of the blue. To replicate this effect, I'd recommend shooting a clear blue layer, then shooting a bright chrome layer over it. From the outside of the canopy, the sunlight will pass through the clear blue and reflect off the chrome. I'd recommend holding a piece of aluminum foil under the canopy in between coats of the clear blue to check your hue. Continue spraying additional coats of the clear blue until you achieve the depth you want.

      • We'll also be selling spare plastic canopies, with prepainted white framing just like the original part, so don't be afraid to experiment. The possibilities with tints and opaque undercoats are endless.

I would go easy for your first flights, however, to verify they're truly up to the task of feeding this fan for as long as you'd like your flights to last. C rating is not a substitute for capacity. As always I must state that officially we specify a 4000-5000mAh size. This is both for CG and Consumption reasons.

Grossman, I'm glad you like the teaser picture. Unfortunately, for competitive reasons I can't really disclose too much about our manufacturing partners' capabilities, processes, or even too many "cool pictures" of the lines. Just the other day I had to escort out someone posing as a "delivery courier" who snuck through security and was trying to photograph areas of our production line and adjacent offices. Good thing we caught him before he reached the next room. It seems...strange... to me, but I've accepted this is the environment we're in. I don't mind being followed.

I sent Pilot Ryan a production Avanti today, so stay tuned for our official Flight Review video and Assembly video!
Well, I guess if they're trying to figure out you next move, it speaks well for the impact the Freewing/FlightLine is having on the market.

              • Can't wait for this release guys and thanks for the canopy info on options for color. Do you guys know exactly how fast this jet will be out of the box with a healthy high C rating 6s 5000?

                          • What are some battery brands and C ratings to consider? Obviously the house brand....Admiral, .....but what are others, given a trustworthy C rating? Would some jet-guys chime in with what they are going to use with the Avanti? :) Thanks

                                Wow... I wonder what she'd do on that 8s JF80 with a proper thrust tube? 140? 150?

                                • Alpha - My apologies if this has been addressed, but is the manual for this bird now available? Do you have an update on ETA if not?

                                  Thank you!

                                  • Optipower batteries are the best in my opinion. Yanking 160-200 amps from hotliner setups have proven these batts.
But yeah glacier, and others are great too

                                    • I wasn't sure if you guys got optipower the other side of the pond but they are great batteries for power hungry set ups. My other choice in the uk would be overlander especially their ultra sport range.

oh yeah i used optipower on an 8s setup pusher jet for 200mph and it pulled 170 amps 3900watts
