Hey guys.... I had the first version of the F-86 and just got the new HP version.... anyone noticed any change of battery placement to get CG correct. I’m using the Admiral 4000s 60C and seem to be tail heavy, wondering if I’m measuring wrong because the first version you had to slam the battery back???

Here is some examples of what I was trying to explain... the first pic is of a F-15 I am almost done refinishing. The second pic is a wrecked wing, but it shows the open areas that are easily covered.

Then that's my F-22 I crashed flying when it was too dark. The only park I had to buy was nose gear doors. One of them broke. The entire top of the stab now is covered in vinyl. Also, you can see where I repaired the forward section of the bottom that elevator. It's much stronger than before...

    Here is the crash

Sorry Ron... I looked back and found the post I was referencing. Time flies! Almost two years ago when I stole the idea from wvrailfan. I had used it before on a small scale, but now i use vinyl on almost every plane I repair or give a makeover.

You can use an iron, preferably a monocote iron, on LOW HEAT to get rid of all the imperfections. It covers holes, servo lead channels, and about anything you want covered. When the iron heats it the vinyl tightens up like a drum. You can paint it however you like afterwards...

Amazon aluminum colored vynil is the best quick patch up covering. Actually, didn’t you wrap your plane in clear vynil? If so, then you know the benefits.

On the flap servos, they are not the best... I have had them go bad every single time any sort of impact occurs. Like gear coming unglued... they’re 9g and plastic geared, meant to move the largest flight surface on the plane. I finally just used spares metal gear 17g servos from cannibalized 90mm Jets. I also swapped all control linkage to the ball link connections to eliminate the slop that had developed over time.

My guess is yes, but technically I don't know 😁

If you have a watt meter you can find out yourself.
I threw in the FMS 80mm 12 blade 3280-2100kv in my F-86 and was rewarded with more power and longer flight times.

So if you are using the FMS inrunner and the FMS fan, I think you can expect similar results. If you are adapting the FMS inrunner to the FW fan, your guess as good as mine...

I found them by googling 334th Fighter Squadron. Then I made my own waterslide decals. Thank you for your kind words on post 702.
AJ, Thank you. Yes, I am using that site for some of my research. Reading and browsing their site convinced me all the more to do either Jabara's or McConnell's Sabre. Again, excellent work on your tribute Sabre. Best, LB

Can I use any other freewing retract types as a drop-in alternative for F-86 nose and main gears. The main gears are wobbly and the nose gear collapses with less than perfect landings specially on the grass. Can I use the retracts used in T33 or Stinger 90 or any other freeing retracts in F-86? Are the dimensions and bolt patterns of freewing retracts the same? The only thing I do not like about F-86 is its landing gear.

    Thanks,

    Hassan

Sold my 2016 era F-86 last year and have always regretted it, was certainly my go to EDF for casual flying. Am flying six of the larger F/W jets including the T-33 and was looking at the new Arrows Mig but for the same price I could not pass up getting a new F-86 so she arrives today ! This one is going to be in the attached RCAF livery for which Callie has been chosen. As much as the T-33 is a very honest flyer the sheer relaxed way you can haul the F-86 around without her biting you Click image for larger version Name:	RCAF F865.jpg Views:	0 Size:	67.6 KB ID:	257144 has never been beaten.

Phantom, surely I am not Superman! I realize that sometimes it’s hard to resist the “itch” for purchasing “just one more“ for the fleet. That’s probably why I have two E-Flight P-39’s and two Freewing F7F Tigercats... and a B-17, B-24, F8F, U-2, Aeronca Champ...
    Will you get the idea.

    TheoldALFER,
If you are surely set on just getting one, atleast for now, then get the T-33. If you're screaming around with a couple of F7F Kittens then you've definitely got the skills for EDF's, and don't need the cut your teeth on the F-86.

    TheoldALFER,

One more thing... if you think you can just buy a modern EDF, fly it, and not buy another.... you must be Superman! I know I couldn't, once that EDF jet smile gets painted across your face, you'll be hooked.... you've been forewarned my friend...

Freewing F-86 verses T-33 - if you had a choice, which would you choose as your first (and only) jet?
This is a most definitely buy them both answer. If the question was a first and (not only) jet, the F-86 hands down. Both fly incredible, but the F-86 has more forgiving flight and stall characteristics over the T-33. It's also more forgiving in a minor crash, and can fly much slower, so if you're a newbie, and if this is your first jet then....I'd suggest the F-86.

However if this question was a one and only jet, then the T-33. Due to it's higher performance, still amazing flight characteristics, scale fidelity, and power setups efficiency. Although an easy jet too fly, it's no where near as easy or forgiving in flight or while landing as the F-86. Properly balanced, the F-86 will literally land itself.

Both are excellently priced, compared to other simular edf jets, so to me this is a noooooo brainer. Buy both, cut your teeth on the F-86, and then show off your airshow skills with the T-33.

P.S. I have both and love both, I've had the F-86 since 2015, I've got I've got more flights on her than any other bird in my hangar!
