      • Dude! You rock! How heavy are these compared to the originals?

        Comment

        • Stock weight in at 7.7g, while the printed one comes in at 26.5g. I have confidence in dropping another 5-10g by modifying the print settings, as these are super sturdy.

            • triple ejector rack and various mk82 fuze and tail kits are already on my list!

Though for the next few weeks I'm finishing a few more small fuselage details since I want to get my airframe painted soon. I got some ideas for the ailerons too, but I may ditch it.

              • Your awesome. I’m loving there add ons. What software are you using? I use solid works at school. Haven’t had time to make anything for my airplanes yet tho.

                • I use Solidworks as well.

                  • Steve, did you spray the whole plane with any clear after the decals and weathering? How are things holding up?

On another topic, I was thinking about adding the trim tabs to the ailerons. Not sure how well they would hold up, and if they would come unglued after a while. I printed a set off, but haven't yet committed to cutting the ailerons.

                    • I used a flat exterior paint which did give me a fit with some of my decals but after everything was on I did use I believe Krylon ColorMax Acrylic Matte but really only applied it to dull any on the graphics that had more of a satin or semi-gloss sheen. I did not spray the whole thing. I weathered it after that and it has held up well overall. I wouldn't think your trim tabs would be an issue if applied with some foam tac.

                      • Forgot to post this:

I have modeled 2 variants for new 80mm nozzles. 1 is a reduced FSA to about 91%, while the other ones maintains 100% FSA, but uses and inner nozzle to look more scale, and the horizontal supports are angled upward to help with the thrust line.

Stock replica (third thrust tube in the lineup picture) is not being included as I don't believe I have permission to do so.

Rcfiddy1 and paracanary on RCGroups have printed a set for themselves.

                        Words from paracanary:
DirtyDee's nozzle thrust angle work perfectly. The scale exhaust nozzles were .2 g heavier than stock So no change in battery placement was required. Only change I made was to increase down elevator travel. Top speed was unchanged And no pitch down with throttle on landing which made landing very easy. Was able to do wheelies with ease

                              • I have but needs improvement. i.e. more output. I will be doing more with it once the weather improves and I can test it more.

                                  • Been stalking for a while..... Thanks for all the ideas, I have a long list of stuff to do to get my bird airborne. Thanks to RC Jet Dude, Dirty Dee, and T33Jetman amongst others. For those with access to a 3D printer, here is my contribution: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2817074 I will try to update if more parts required.

Well so far, it looks like this..... Have the AAR slipway and the side vents glued in. Waiting until after the paint to get the exhaust/inlet installed, as well as the servo covers. Graphics on order from Callie... Servo covers may give an idea of planned paint colour..... ;)
