I've been staying put in Florida since the beginning of February, but come mid-April I'll be back in Baltimore, ready to get to work. Ray English has worked on my Saito engine, so that will be delivered in a few weeks.

As djmoose said, it's the same 4 bolt drill pattern as the 50cc-60cc DA and DLE gas engines. Do use a proper drill jig for those motors. The holes need to be the right spacing and drilled perfectly straight.

That Dualsky motor comes in two versions...one with a single center prop shaft (GA6000S)...and another with the same 4 bolt pattern you would see on a DA60 (and others) with is a 30mm bolt circle. (GA6000)

You will need to drill your prop for the 4 30mm bolt pattern. There are 60cc prop drill jigs that help with this.

A previous post mentioned a Saito FG 90R3
I like that idea. It’ll be a while before I start working on this plane though. Buying it to have in my store up of ‘funtirement’ projects.

That’s the ticket!!! A radial should be perfect for this baby. What motor are you considering? I’m looking at the UMS 5 cylinder 75.

It's going to get up to 46 degF today. But, there's still a foot of snow on the field. Spring is just around the corner. Looking forward to getting this round cowled beast back in the air.

How are all of the the other Red Lion builds going?

Alpha For the guys at motionRC, you might want to fix the product page. It claims you need 7 servos...you only need 6. (5 if going electric)

That helps, since I'm going with the Saito 90FG. Per Horizon's spec's that's 40 oz heavier than the 61 twin.

Or maybe I could do with a bigger radial engine😂

I have a FG61 TS twin fitted, which is fairly heavy. With all electronics in the forward bay around the tank, I’ve had to add a fair amount of lead to the firewall to get it to balance as per to post flight recommendations on here 112mm on a Vanessa Rig. I could do with even more weight. The manual CG is too far back and I’d rather start nose heavy and work back than control a tiger on its maiden!

Could anyone who went with a gas engine, especially the Saito 90FG post a photo of their radio setup? I'm curious to see how far back the batteries would need to go to keep the plane from being nose heavy.

    Thanks.

CitabriaDriver Welcome to Hobby Squawk! I too wish that Motion RC would have some "repair covering" available for the different Black Horse models. If you look at the material on the inside edge of the fuselage equipment bay opening, it appears to be a gloss tan. The multi later printing, including matt finish, seems to be applied over top. It would seem that a flat or matt cream would come closer.

RCBobP Let the fun begin. Looking forward to following your progress as well.
