  • I hope your panties being in a wad weren't because of me. As I said it was in jest.

I don't think anyone really cares how much you have spent or if you decide not to do preorders anymore...

I have been more than pleased with Motion RC and their customer service, and I'd venture to say that I've spent more money than most of you at Motion RC over the last 4 months. I simply disagree with the policy of charging people for a product and not shipping for over two months. This is not going to be the last airplane I order from Motion RC, but it will be the last airplane that I preorder.
And for those of you that are still confused about my credit card comment, let me clear this up by saying I never have to pay interest on my credit card because I do pay off whatever balance I have monthly. No, I'm not out of pocket interest on this preordered B-25. Just out of pocket for the cost of the model....for two months now. Trust me, this will not cause me to miss a meal. So, to the few of you guys that were offended, take a deep breath and relax, this too shall pass. It is truly amazing how ugly some people can get when hiding behind a computer screen.

I personally don't have a 3D printer, but I have a friend that is good at this kind of thing so I'm hoping I can persuade him to print these up for me.
Do you think that you can work up the exhaust blisters we need to make up the missing ones to make the cowlings more accurate?.
Hate to put the pressure on you, but you do such great work rendering these fine details that you could make life much easier for the rest of us that are not tech challenged.

Could you share some photos of the feature you are interested relative to the model as is?

My plan for this plane was to look into something for the gunship versions on the nose. That won't start till I have it in hand.

          • In looking at the individuals posting messages here I find that there are only a few that have been members longer than I. And I think that it would be better if some of the pettiness and infighting being posted here were stopped. That said, I think there are a few things that the folks at Motion RC could do better. For one, anyone logging onto their site will still see the B-25 is expected in early September. We all know that isn't true and in all fairness they need to clearly state that, at this point, they do not know when the plane will be available. I don't know how many planes they are expecting but from the number of folks on this site waiting for planes, I am not sure the current missing in action shipment and the 3rd shipment will cover those awaiting planes much less anyone else pre-ordering since the problem arose. I wanted a P-47 from a competitor which was out ot stock. I could have backordered it and my card would not have been charged until it shipped. I opted for notification of when it was back in stock and left it at that. By the way, the plane is in my hanger now. A message stating the B-25 is out of stock on the website, which it really is, and an offer to notify prospective customers when it is finally available would go a long way to avoid the angst the rest of us are currently feeling. With this product being now 6 weeks overdue, I also think the folks at Motion RC, knowing the angst among its customer base, could do a better job at keeping us informed as to the status of the planes which we, in good faith, paid for. I don't think what I have suggested is asking too much.

            • I agree all the vendors could do better in the notification/ information department too.

Pettiness, who spent more in a month or who joined before whom...

I don't think this is infighting, it's a discussion forum and we are discussing. But, yes I agree with you.

Not at all. Just tired of people complaining about delivery times on a situation that they had no control over. Cancel your order and move on.

                • And the site does say late September.

"We currently expect the B-25 shipment to arrive at Motion RC in late September. We are extremely sorry for the delay and embarrassed to keep pushing the arrival date back. Any changes to the ETA will be posted on this page."

                  • While we are all (patiently?) waiting here's a little video to pass some time with a reminder to always fly the plane. Low altitude tip stalls are a bummer! (see 16:00 of maiden)

ID:	386078 h the C/D versions.
instead of exiting out the rear of the engine cowlings with multiple cylinders collecting together. The individual exhausts from then on were routed thru the sides of the cowlings making a marked change in the appearance of the cowlings.
Flightline has done an incredible job of recreating the B-25 J version. So I am happy that the only outline discrepancy other than the wheel rims is the number of exhaust stacks that are visible. And those appear to be a fairly easy fix.
somebody with FAST N LIGHT's skills will knock the design out before breakfast.
The only idea I came up with was to cut apart some old BIC pen caps and glue them around the cowling until I realized the plastic they are made of won't hold paint. My olive drab plane would look silly with blue and black lumps around the cowlings.
I definitely think a 3D printing would be a much better solution.

                      • Quick update - As of yesterday evening (Friday Sept 8th) the B-25 shipment was second in line to be inspected. We expect the customs inspection to take place next week and expect to receive the container the week after. If I had to guess, I would say the container will arrive 10-12 days from now but this is purely an educated guess. I've never had any inspection take this long nor have I had two inspections on the same container so we're in uncharted territory here. It looks like there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. I wish there was someone to complain to about the time this whole process is taking. Again, I apologize for the SUPER SLOW delivery.

                          • FYI, The cowling exhausts and prop blade proximity to the cockpit windows caused B-25 pilots and co-pilots to lose hearing. Pilots left ear hearing deficit; co-pilots right ear. True!

I think I am following. You want to add the 2nd row of exhaust ducts which are forward and circumstantially offset from the ones on the FL model?
                              Certainly this could be solved.

                              Challenges
                              1) Modeling the duct. I haven't modeled this type of geometry before, so would need to invest some time in learning.
                              2) Matching the existing ducts. I would likely cover or remove the existing ones to get the set to look same & scale.
                              3) Attachment to the nacelle. Would be helpful to see what is behind this exposed surface to create the attachment features for the duct.
                              4) Design for print-ability. Depends on 1 to 3.

If I had the B-25 model in hand so I could get all the needed data, estimate I would take 15 to 30 hours to develop this duct (eg design, print trials & initial installation).

There may be others who can knock this out more quickly - please be my guest!

The modeling challenge is very similar to the gunship nose so I will start exploring with that challenge in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

The SQUADRON/SIGNAL Publications are a great resource for us Scale Nerds. Especially the Walk Around Series. Lots of good information. For example the B25 Walkaround shows lots of pics of the Exhaust Stacks, and also notes many times they were modified or had those covers removed for ease of servicing when stacks broke loose. Many can still be found. and on Amazon I picked up one as soon as i preordered the aircraft. B-25 Mitchell - Walk Around No. 12: Lou Drendel, Don Greer: 9780897473798: Amazon.com: Books

                                      • I wonder if the FlightLine designers decided to drop the 2nd row of exhaust ducts in the service of streamlined looks v accuracy. I'll probably not do this mod.
