As Obi-Wan said to Luke Skywalker, an untruth can be true "from a certain point of view".

    • The Spektrum SMART receivers listen to all 20 channels an NX8 can transmit. They may not have servo ports for all those channels, but they can use information sent on those channels for internal use such as gyro mode and gain controls. If you use an AVIAN ESC it can use information on channel 9 for reverse thrust without needing 9 ports, since it gets that information from the SRXL2 signal on port 1.

      • 20 if the NX8 has been updated or came as a plus?

Using the stock gyro a 9ch receiver is needed for all the functions, basic 6, wing sweep, reverse and gyro.

My NX8, showing 12 channels set up. If you set tail type to "tailerons" or "2 elevators" it defaults the left elevator to Ch9.

          • Yes, kallend, I know all this stuff about 20 channels. My point to Tcwoodie was that if he didn't use a RX with enough physical ports, he can't do what he wants to do. That is, gyro mode and reverse (with these ESCs) require to be plugged into a physical port, thus, he needs a 9 to 10 channel RX. If he uses only an 8-ch RX, there is no ch-9 port to plug into no matter how many of those upper channels the TX and RX talks to or listens to. That's why I finally answered his question by suggesting the Lemon 10-ch or Spektrum 10-ch, in order to have the physical port to plug into.

OK, that's it for this. We know what happened last time we saw the truth in different ways. I took a vacation from here for quite a long time. And we know what happens when you get "weird" about your truth. You were forced to take a long vacation. I think it's just time to put each other on "IGNORE". We will never see eye to eye on anything. The main difference is, you're rude and obnoxious about it. You don't come to someone's aid. You wait for someone else to come to their aid first, so you can jump in to say how wrong they are. Enough is enough and you're simply way too much. Goodbye!

            • F-14 158984 (this VF-1 Wolfpack one)) was an F-14A. Here is a photo of the real thing:

This Wolf Pack Tomcat was photographed at its home base, NAS Miramar, in August 1976. Like its sister squadron, VF-2, VF-1 was part of Carrier Air Wing 14 (CVW-14) which was assigned to the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). The squadron was established on 14 October 1972 and disestablished on 01 October 1993.

The stock nozzles on this model are not correct for the F-14A (as you can see in the photo). They are not even close.

I have put some 3DP nozzles correct for the F-14A up on Thingiverse, that fit this model and have a properly sized outlet.

Here is a (more or less) correct nozzle for the twin 64mm Freewing F-14A. (Slight deviation from scale was needed to get the exit area correct for the fan size.)Print light. The file "Nozzle" is simply to replace the entire stock nozzle(foam and plastic skin). Cut off the existing nozzle and glue this in its place.IF you can peel off the plastic skin without damaging the foam underneath, use the guide to trim the foam stub to length, and mount the "noz c file" over the stub. This makes it slightly lighter and a bit easier to align. It is necessary to trim the stub to accommodate the different shape of the F-14A nozzle. The petals are very thin and some slicers may not slice them well. The "A" nozzle is a bit more robust than the noz_c

              • I've had the F14 V1 for two years and haven't flown it yet.
Is the V2 model more stable than the V1?
Do you know if there's an Android app?
                Thanks.

I have the V1 of this plane and having flown it, it doesn't appear to me as being "UNstable", so I wouldn't know if the new wings would make it "more stable". Having said that, I will get the new wings for my V1 before spring arrives. Will know then if it's any better.
Apparently, the Freewing APP is available at the Google Play Store.

                    • Is there an update on when the 64mm F14 V2 wings will be available in the EU? Thank you for any info

                      • Apparently differences between the V1 and V2 wings necessitate also buying the pushrod set and a reverse servo for one flap if you want to update your V1.

It would be really nice if FW/MRC offered a conversion set including all the necessary parts.

If the new wings ever become available, of course.

                        • Looking for some assistance or point in the right direction to assign the gyro on a Spektrum system. have an 8 channel non gyro receiver. I plugged the gyro into a channel and assigned that. I can get it to make noises like AS3X would and it appears it goes OFF but how to I get the 3rd mode self level activated? Its on a 3 position switch but doesn't seem to active. Any ideas?

                                • They are available now at AliExpress, if you don't mind paying another 100 bucks or so for shipping. Personally, it's middle of a cold, snowy winter here, so I can wait for Motion or RC Castle.

                                  • Availability on Ali means it shouldn't be too much longer... I would think?

                                      • After waiting 5 months for a part for my Hobbyking Twin Otter, it finally arrived a week ago.

I hope that's a good omen that stuff is on the move.
