  • Corsair Crew,

Here is a picture of the 'modified' Corsair Spinner.

It is a bit smaller and looks less "Bozo Nose" IMHO.

It uses all the OEM hardware.

I wiped it down with Acetone, primed and sanded it, then finish color.

    It fits like a dream.

I will email the G-Code for a Prusa Mini to Grossman56 / davegee if y'all want it.

    Best, LB

    • Looks good Elbee!
I've just been looking for the STL files that you made to augment the Spitfire cockpit. Are they available?

A few more things to do, like make a insert to fit over the dash so there won't be any gatoring in the future and I'd like to come up with something better for the bullet proof glass. Also I want to run wiring from the switches into the dash like Dave did. It's never ending!

                • Did the maiden flight this morning and it was a lovely flight. What sucks is the port side landing gear collapsed on the third landing.

                  first landing was a greaser.

second a minor bounce and acceptable.

third was less than minor bounce and the gear collapsed.

I knew about the fragile landing gear when purchasing this model but I didn’t know it would be THIS bad.

is motion/flightline doing anything about this?

                  • Motion has introduced a stronger pin in the retract but I don't know if anything else was changed. Check with Motion R/C

Is this new pin included or must be purchased separately? Thanks for the info.

update: I should have been more specific. The plastic housing where the retract unit screws into came loose. I cleaned it up and reinstalled it with proper amount of glue. Hopefully it will hold up. That’s great news that it has a 6.5mm pin. Thanks.

                        WH,

It is my understanding that the pin is available for $21.49 USD.

Despite that price, each pin comes with a free retract mechanism, though you must specify whether you want the LH pin or RH pin.

                        • Now, just looking for something else to create, went on Tinker Cad and just had fun yesterday, trying all the different controls and figuring out the new sketch tool, pretty cool. The alignment tool was something that I couldn't figure out until I watched a couple of videos, really simple when you watch someone else use it.

One thing on my 'to do' list is create the maintenance platforms that some smart mechanic in the Pacific came up with. Coolest thing ever and answers the question of why there was a hole in the side of the cowling.
Now if I could just come up with some mechanic figures... I hate to say this, but does anyone know what the scale of the G.I. Joe 'action figures' was??
No one has yet come up with a 3D figure of a maintenance guy yet.

                            Danger,

                            If your GI Joe is 12" he's considered 1/6th scale,i.e., 72" dude = 6'/1' = 1/6th scale'

                            72' man / 10" figure is 1/7.2 scale

72" dude / 8" figure is 1/9th scale and so on.

So, whatever height your figure might be divide that number in inches into 72" for 6' dude and you'll be close enough.

                            Make sense?

The FlightLine Corsair is what...1:8th scale. so if you want a 6' (72") pilot you'd simply divide 72/8=9 and your fully standing pilot would need to be 9" overall.

The FlightLine B-25 is listed as 1:13th scale but is closer to 1:12.8 averaging the scaled wingspan and fuselage length into a single number.

I scaled my design parts to that and it is working out nicely.

                            Best, LB

PS:BTW: Max Greuter includes a Scaling Chart for his 1/6th pilot figures. See attachment.
