  • I got a good maiden in today with the bison. I flew two batteries and had very light winds. Both flights it wanted to roll hard left. No amount of trim was correcting it. Anyone know what the issue could be? Maybe motor angle? I might have removed the motor during build but I can’t remember.

Make sure the slats are equal on both sides. Double check all the other surfaces as well including the rudder.

      • I think the slat on the left wing may be the cause. It was wavy all the way down the wing. Looked like maybe a few hinges were poorly glued into place. Anyone remove the slats completely? How have you guys been locking the into place? I just used scotch tape on each end.

Warlox I pushed some soft foam down into the channel the quick connect rides in for each slat, then a little tape over the slot to keep it there. Holds them in position but can be easily removed if you want to later.

          • Still trying to complete my Bison, one of the slats is very tight and one of the control horns to a slat came off trying to put the control rod on. I made up aY connector with all female servo leads to use a 4.8 volt receiver battery to power the lights, put the white black to my receiver and the front lights flash. My question is why are the two wires ,black and white, have the space between them when all the other light wires are set with red, black next to each other?another post talked about reversing them, right now I am hesitant to do that reminds me of the old days when you accidentally reverse polarity and burned up your receiver. Another thing that happened, I went to drill a slightly bigger hole for the pn holding the strut to the fuse when the plastic on the fuse broke off, really! I blended both down with my Dremal and used servo screws with a washer to hold them, for now. Later on I will inset a threaded stud and use a nice cap nut out on the field. But back to the lights if I can figure out the wiring I plan installing a 4.8 volt pack since I got plenty of room. Any help on the wiring would be appreciated.

            • The wiring is a mess. I think the wire you refer to is the one that connects to your receiver (I put mine on the gear channel) to control turning on and off the landing lights on the fuselage.

              • Well, Now I can see that Motion could care less about being fair with reviews. They did post 2 new ones but still refuse to post mine. I did give their CS an opportunity to do something but Like I thought, it was a complete waste of my time. At least I find comfort in knowing that there was a fair number of our club members present to see that there was something wrong with the performance of the airplane. So at least 78 members in our club will be able to know what they can expect if they want to do business with a company like that.

                  • Judge for yourself folks:

"Regarding your case, it has been determined, that due to a lack of a definitive cause for the loss of this plane, that no compensation can be offered for this particular incident. We sympathize with the loss of the model, however, the RC hobby, even for the most experienced pilots, brings with it inherent risks on each flight. We sincerely hope you understand the reasons for our decision and hope that you will continue to use Motion RC as your source for RC Products."

                      • If you weren't so self righteous, you would see that the way they handle a problem that can't be proved out one way or the other is to tell a customer to go get lost. In all the years I ran my business, I never one time didn't try to help a customer when there was a problem.

                        • Quit calling me names on the two forums and tell us what happened. That they didn’t post a review is not enough to go crazy about. And if your posts here are any indication your review was probably not fit to post.

                          • So a review has to be a particular way? It was a negative review but no name calling or foul language was used, just my personal experience with the product. Motion or James can tell you why they don't want it posted.

                                  • Was thinking of getting this one but had to give it a miss.
The reason, plane is $399 shipping is $405 to Australia.

Do you have your ticket number? I have no idea what actually happened with your situation and we have too many tickets and reviews to possibly try to find it. But I'd love to know what happened.

All I do know is, our customer service reputation is one of the highest in the industry, and more than most know that. But, that doesn't mean we are perfect and don't have detractors as well. Sometimes the final decision is not what people want to hear, but we have a process we follow to try and fully understand a situation. I am sorry we couldn't help you this time.

But if you have a ticket number, then I would have a better understanding of what happened.

                                        • Just read through it and yeah, that's a tough break as there is absolutely no way to know if there was an actual issue with the plane itself or the set-up/piloting. That's the hardest thing with a hobby that fights gravity, unlike many other businesses. When something goes wrong upon leaving the ground, odds drastically decrease for a product's survival. That's why we need all the information to try and make a fair judgment call. But that's impossible with the limited info that was provided.

I feel for you. It sucks. All our CS guys are also hobbyists and we have all had accidents both by fault of an aircraft or by making a pilot error.

As for your review of the aircraft, since you seemingly took off and hit the trees rather quickly, not sure how you could even review the aircraft fully or fairly. So maybe just post your review here instead? This is an open forum for all to see and you are more than free to do so. But again, I don't know if it's been seen yet or not as I don't handle those myself.

Basically, I am giving you the same answer our CS person did above, which I know you don't like, but that's the best we can do in this situation. I haven't seen any other tickets regarding the Bison that claim a lack of power and I have flown it many times and it has more than enough on 6S when set up properly.

All in all, I wish there was a better outcome for you with this one, and even though we couldn't help you this time, I hope it doesn't turn you off from us forever as you can see we do care. Here I am at 9:30 pm empathizing with you off the clock because I, and our company, do care about our customers and try our best to help even if we can't all the time.

I truly wish you all the best in your future RC endeavors whether they are with a Motion RC aircraft, or not.
