Fit the first cooler in the port side cutout... Just a dry/temp fit to see how it looks. This is before I do any work to the coolers (filler primer, wet or dry sand, repeat until smooth finish). Overall I am really happy with the final molds and when it's all done and they are properly recessed I think it will definitely look the part showcasing a scale-like depth to the coolers that most model Corsairs don't have.

Thanks! I cut a little too much on the starboard side so I will need to fill the gap...Any suggestions? Bondo? Fiberglass cloth? Not used to working with fiberglass for repairs...

Those are gonna look great Todd! Depending on the gap you could use epoxy thickened with micro balloons, sand then follow with Bondo for the little imperfections.

Thanks Tom, that sounds like a great idea! It's probably a bit overkill how much attention and detail will be going into the coolers but I think they are such a cool feature of the Corsair, I want to do them justice.

Yeah, I don't know what's behind the coolers but it might be a good idea to build that area up with layers of balsa or light ply to just the right depth so that you have something solid to mount the coolers on instead of just depending on the glue/putty around the face edge of it. Like minds! I collect popsicle sticks for my epoxy and I was thinking the other day that they would be a great solution to build up the cooler pockets.

Knocked over with a nasty cold but I wanted to post this...I bought some filler primer over the weekend and have about 10 coats on the coolers. The primer is doing a nice job of filling the grooves. A lot of sanding and priming. I finally got to the point where I felt comfortable setting them in their homes. I have to clean up the edges with putty, primer and sanding but once that's done I think the end result will be worth the investment.

Picked up some bondo...Sanded around the edges until the chips were smoothed out, then added the bondo to fill the edges. Once dry I will sand smooth, probably hit it with another round of bondo if needed, sand, then filler prime. Should be good to go by then.

Thanks! I hope so! Unfortunately the bondo hasn't cured so I think I didn't have the mix perfectly 1:1 so I will have to do it over. Ah well.
