Finally some decent weather and was able to get 20 flights in on 5 aircraft, including the much delayed maiden of the F-18 Tiger. She flew outstanding and got 5 minutes of flight time on an SMC 6200 40C pack pushing the 12 blade inrunner (now in all my 90 mm's). I have to say the FW F-18, F-4 and A-10 are some of the sweetest flying EDF's out there, thanks MRC. Of course the Avanti ain't too bad either to start the day out with so you feel like you actual know what your doing (only an illusion for me, but I'll take it). Hopefully the weather will hold and I'll get the maiden in on the Mig on Wednesday! Eventually I'll get a video together of the F-18, but the phone footage looks fairly crappy, so don't hold your breath! Definitely need AG's videographer!!
A friend had the WWI Pup gasser out as well, would love to have something like this. Tried to talk him into letting me have a flight with it, but turns out he's a lot smarter than he looks so no go! He spent 7 months building it and is planning on taking it to one of the WWI-II scale events for competition. He still needs to finish the machine gun before it's ready to compete but it flies outstanding, probably better than the real one did.

Got out again today but it was more about what I DIDN'T fly that What I Did. Got a flight in on the F-4, the F-18 and then the SU-30, but while that was in the air, a nasty storm blew in seemingly from nowhere and I was up fighting a 30 mph crosswind. I was able to get it one the ground with no damage and then it proceeded to rain so hard you couldn't see 10 feet. The maiden of the Mig was next in line, but we all sat there for 2 hours in what seemed like a tornado. When it finally let up, only a bush plane on floats could have got off the runway, so the Mig maiden will have to wait. RudyD54 did get his Mig up as well as his new 8S F-16, but unfortunately the day was cut short. That's been the story all summer!

Had to go to the Vampires for blood draw today, so came home and loaded up some fun flyers, my two Pandoras and the RV-8.
Weather was okay, the smoke was bad but the wind was down for a while at least, got six flights in before it started gusting, all in all a fun time though as its a combination I've never taken to the field. Had a aileron servo burn out on the yellow Pandora (P-2) a couple of days ago, now replaced and raring to go. Both Pandoras are what 7 years old now and are numbers 1 and 2 on the radio. Sometimes you just want to go slow and slow and they are perfect. How many trainers can you say that you still fly in amongst the fighters and jets (and RV8's!) ?
Great planes and great times, great people that's what it's all about.
My Flying Circus....
Compare this pic with the first one, thats how much smoke we have today.

Having a newborn at home means not much flying or building, but finally got to maiden the sebart Avanti (the freewings bigger brother) this morning.
Set up with a mild 6S 90mm with a view to stretching the flight times out but performance left a lot to be desired. So I'll revert to my tried and tested 6kw FMS setup now lol.
I don't know about this balsa flies better business. It's rewarding getting an arf back in one piece but for a fraction of the cost I think the freewing is the smart money...

Put together a short video on my friends Giant Scale Australian Sopwith PUP he maidened last week. She's a real beauty and should do well when he takes it into competition. Also did a video on the maiden of my F-18 Tiger Meet, posted in the F-18 thread.

We tried formation flying in figure 8's. It's like "wax on, wax off". So we get to work flying inside and outside of turns to both sides. Lots of throttle adjustments, to stay in position. Actually in all three axes. It's nice to be able to practice for 8 minutes per flight at 50% power. The Vipers are surprisingly efficient, even compared to smaller 80mm jets!YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/motionsic

The Stearman got out to drop parachutes. My Jenna's barbies went for a few flights in the Cub with the doors open. The Aeroworks Check Mate did a few flights of mild stunts. The GP P6EHawk went for two flights but was hanger bound after a wheel fell off which caused it to flip over... No crashes a very good day!4 Photos

Had a great day at the field, took My Little Gal II and La Patrona, got two flights in on both and was wishing I had more batteries. Ron showed up with his Apprentice, it used to be my wife's but she decided to sell it. I got to burn a battery through her and had a great time greasing landings with it. Perfect day, no wind and a bit of haze so we weren't frying in the sun.
Saturday was great as well, Andy had his big jet out so we got some shots with it and the RV8.
