  • Thanks to Cliff (dlktdr) for the open source head-tracker build! I am really enjoying the wireless head-tracker feature not worrying about tugging the trainer chord. I move my head a lot in flight. Smooth, fast, and precise tracking meaning not having to recenter HT at all during flight is great. I forget HT is there just feel I am one with the plane; dare I say like a fighter pilot

    • The weather gave us a few hours yesterday afternoon. I got a chance to get out with the Dolphin again.

      • No pictures from today, but a few of us from our club all met at the field this morning. We got in 2-3 a piece before the wind really kicked up (18-20+mph). What a great day for flying in the second week of march.

        • Flew my little Xfly T-7. This is a sweet little airplane and a joy to fly. If anyone (hint hint Freewing) makes an 80mm it will be an instant buy from me.

An 80mm with a different colour scheme would be very tempting

            • Got the Bearcat up again today for a couple of flights, the wind was down for the most part, but the temp dropped off and we ended up getting snow in the afternoon. This is actually parts from Bearcat one two and three and the Tigercat. That 760kv motor is deadly, it goes faster than the stock motor when I'm only pushing half throttle. Wide open and its like the Avanti!

              • Where did you get the 760kv motor from? What ESC are you using? Are you flying with 4S?
Nice looking Bearcat. I've always like the Flightline Bearcat, but when I was ready to buy one they were out of stock. So, I decided to buy the Arrows RC Bearcat, instead.

I have the 1100mm eleven hobby Bearcat and 1100m T28 , both originally have the same motor and the eleven hobby bearcat is basically the same airframe as the FMS and Arrows hobby 1100mm. • I didn't know FMS made a Bearcat. I fly my Arrows Bearcat with the Admiral 3600 4S all the way forward. It flies great. And, it's alot quicker with the factory motor and 4 blade. I upgraded the ESC to an Avian 80 amp.

Eleven hobby ( sold a couple of years ago by Bangood) is an offshoot of fms, hence the fms motors. The model I have is the eleven hobby 1100mm version( sorry I did not make that clear )
                      FMS version is here https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32963092367.html

                      • Flew my A-4E this morning. Third flight on this airframe. Had to replace the fuse a while back, all other components are original to the first. Still getting used to it, even though I had one a few years ago that had tons of flights on it before I sold it. Supposed to get some snow/rain showers tomorrow, but I might try to sneak out and fly before that comes in.

I actually did get out this morning, as the weather is starting to move in. But it was really good flying conditions and very little wind. Took my E Flite P-51D out this morning and got a couple of flights in; hadn't flown it since last fall. But it flew like a champ. I took a couple of pics before I packed it up to come back home. This is a total repaint of the stock blue version of this plane, to look like how the real one was in WWII. Just repainted the invasion stripes on the fuse as they were not properly aligned after the repaint.

                          • Sharing a fun “follow the leader” flight video chasing my friend’s FW L-39. It’s hard for the lead to shake off the pursuit with good head-tracking FPV setup. Enjoy!

Now that's an outstanding looking P-51, excellent repaint. I never liked the stock blue version of this plane and wish they'd have done something closer to what you did. Bravo!

Thanks, Hugh. I thought at first I could just paint over the blue with olive drab and dark green. Turns out that every marking and decal had to be removed and replaced on the entire airplane! Also, the most uncertain part was cutting off the foam triangular fairing on the vertical fin. I wasn't sure how that would come out, but it worked out fine. The original in WWII was an early model D bubbletop, but didn't have the fairing that made it more stable in flight. All P-51s later came out of the factory with this extra fairing, making for its iconic look.

                                Cheers

                                      • Now I'm really off topic, instead of what did you fly, what did you eat while flying! Early morning at our field (yes, in S. Florida), usually have deer (nothing like fresh venison chili and sausage) and the occasional alligator (tastes like chicken). They love to stand right in the center of the runway, which is definitely the safest place to be when I'm trying to land. Smart little creatures!
