  • The little lead is for the programmer. The power for your radio (BEC output) is over the long ESC lead. Look at the instruction for the ESC, it shows how the programmer hooks up.

    • The long lead is to the throttle and the reverse thrust branches off of that. I’ll check out the ESC manual. Thanks.

      • 1. What Evan said. Don't plug that short lead into anything unless it's a programmer and you want to change the programming.
        2. The constant beeping is saying the ESC is not initializing. Could mean:

        a. Is the throttle trim minimized?
        b. If you're using Spektrum SAFE/select RX, you may be too close. Step back about 5 - 10 feet when binding and when trying to initialize.
        c. Throttle lead from ESC (or power lead from external BEC) not plugged into RX or wrong polarity).
        d. Try throttle calibration.

        • The long lead has four wires, yellow reverse, white throttle signal, red power (BEC 5.5V out to run your radio system), black ground.

All current FW ESCs that have reverse function are this way. FW no longer has and PNP with separate except the twins, Mig29, F-14, etc.

If it doesn't have a yellow single wire plug it doesn't have reverse. Most FW PNP planes now have reverse but not all.

Xviper has a great trouble shooting list.

          • Ding dong here figured it out.

I plugged the leads into the rx upside down.

            Good grief.

              • Hey guys. 5 flights now.. overall happy.. first flight last weekend. Failed to get off the freshly cut damp grass.. so 8 s fan in place..
But after going back. In this thread
. I'm concerned about the weight. I only have HRB 6000.. Times 2 4s.. coming in at 550 grams times 2. Totally 1100.. this is what I fly my f4 on. And it's awsome..
But boy it feels heavy.... So I'm asking is anyone flying this on that weight.. any other thoughts

It looks great in the sky

                • Does sound heavy. Mine has a JetFan which is a little lighter than the current high power FW fan and I fly 800g of battery and it’s awesome.

I fly mine on 2x4S SMC 5900mah HV weighing 1012g and on 2x4s Coddar 6000mah HV weighing 860g. They both seem to fly the same. Short cut grass no problem. Good power and "get up and go". It/s a little "heavy" but nothing alarming and not unlike my other 8s 90mm jets. Still can accelerate from slow speed to max speed easily. With air brakes open, lands high alpha very nicely and controllably. Reverse helps when landing on smooth runway as the plane's weight does keep it rolling. A friend has the 6s version and only flies it off the GeoTex runway, not the grass. All in all, a very satisfying experience.

Hey Mate, I'm flying all my 8S on either the SMC 8S HiV 5900 (970 gr) or even the SMC 8S HiV 4900 (841 gr). F4's and F16 on the 5900, F22/F18/EuroFIghter on the 4900. Don't think you can get the SMC's "Down Under" though. On the F16 V1, it doesn't seem to fly much different on the 4900 or 5900, both get off grass almost identically. Does make a difference on the Euro and F18's though.

                          • I made my second and third flights. After analyzing various videos, I moved the batteries forward, and that was it! However, getting out of the grass with this model is terrifying and takes forever. I have to fly into it, and then I'll tell you more.

I know exactly what you mean. My 1st gen 90mm F-16 was on 6s and it almost drove into the tall weeds at the end of the runway. I pulled up at the last moment and just missed the top of the weeds. It was a very dramatic take off. Granted, this was 9 years ago and the current 6s V2 is more powerful but my friend's 6s V2 is the same. My V2 is on 8s and it has no problems getting off the same grass runway - plenty of room to spare.
I'm showing this video purely for dramatic effect:

                                    • Repainted my ARF PLUS. The livery we sell isn't bad, I'm just not into the turquoise shade of blue. I decided on the ubiquitous military grey. Looks pretty mean with the ordnance and tanks!
