  • Hello, I would like to ask if a 100m long area of somewhat rough grassy surface will be enough for this model A10?
I currently have an Avanti with 80EDF and this length is sufficient for my takeoff and landing.

    • AdriPet. Welcome to Hobby Squawk, Sir.

It is my opinion, the length of the runway will be sufficient, however, I would be concerned about the 'rough' grassy surface not allowing a smooth transition at rotation.

This A-10 is a tough bird, though the Nose Gear mount can suffer some structural issues from rough surfaces and poor landings.

      Ask me how I know...

Be aware, If not maintained, a rough surface will take it's toll over time.

      • Does anyone know the scale of this 80mm version? I couldn't find it in the description and I want to replace the pre-applied Flying Tigers decals that comes with it now.

        Thanks,

        • Hawgnotch84, Welcome to Hobby Squawk. The Freewing twin 80mm A-10 is 1700mm in wingspan or 66.93 inches.

The actual A-10c has a wingspan of 57'6" wingspan or 690 inches. Quick math gives a result of 690/66.93=10.4+ scale.

So you would be good to go with 1/10th scale decals.

Au Contraire Mon Frere, we're just too busy flying this baby!! And No complaints to gripe about. This is an exceptional EDF. I'm loving flying this balanced around 195mm (which I suspect is extremely nose heavy for you ) with upgraded fans that came out of my Mig and 2 SMC HiV 5900's for 7-8 minutes. Whoopi!

              • I reeeeeeeeeeaaally wish this was a single battery jet. She's one of my favorites. Such a nice flyer, great presence. Just never liked that she needs two 6S batteries to fly.

Christmas is around the corner before you know it. Anyone want to take this livery on?? 😄

Absolutely, I'm game. Just send me a NIB using your MRC connections and I'll get right on it. I'll even kick in a few bucks ($2.00) for shipping. 😏😇 I'll PM you my shipping address although MRC must have it taped to their "Guy Who Spends All his Money With" wall. 🤑

I actually love this being twin batteries. Using the SMC HiV 5900's and easily get 7 minutes of flight time. Stuck the control board to the side of the fuselage so I could get the batteries back far enough end to end and still balance it 15-20mm behind manual at 195mm. Flies/lands so sweet there, definitely in the top 3 of my favorites.

                  • Does the 90mm upgrade make this a10 take of faster or is it not that much of a difference? Taking of from about 70meter runway its a cloth on top of grass so not much resistence. Thinking about 2x 4000mah 6s 45c lipos and the thrust reversing ESC's what flight time am i looking at?

Awesome jet. Needed to make some adjustments, thrust reverse, gear braces and the trailer link gear and now its way more bumpy runway proof

                            • Hey Guys...it's been a long time since I've checked in! A couple years ago I sold my A-10 because like Aros, I became disillusioned with needing two batteries per flight. But after several horrible experiences with E-Flite, I'm remembering the reliability and performance from the Hog and thinking I want to get another one! Are there any changes I need to get up to speed on...like the factory applied decals? And...here's the big question (maybe for Alpha)...can I have confidence that MRC will be supporting this plane well into the future? Thanks in advance!

I recently got mine. You get a sheet of decals yo choose from. I can recommand the trailer link nose gear and the 3d printer nose gear brace. Other then that its a rock solid jet takes of fast and easy, with the landing definetly keep the nose up. You wont regret getting one.

Do you suppose he's with some Freewing competitor? I wouldn't doubt it. He's definitely got RC aircraft design skills in spades!

How did you learn this Evan? This is kind of a big deal...I was so impressed by the pre-release work he did on the A-10, showing the various prototypes and progress being made. Have you heard this Aros???
