OH , you are correct, only shows the ARF version "out of stock" and the PNP is no where to be found. An absolutely tremendous flying EDF, really hate to see it gone, so let's keep our fingers crossed that it might be in line for a V2 (although they did a limited release of an upgraded version with the Mig inrunners in it - which I did to mine early on when I upgraded my Mig fans and stuck them in the A-10 - a truly worthwhile upgrade).

Got a good price on NIB one here in AUS and decided to give one a crack. I have previously had the FMS 70mm V2 A-10 which was great and flew well but its previous owner had landed it like a Navy F-18 in bad weather so I the wing gear mounts were trashed and needed constant attention. Missed it ever since I sold it!

I'm waiting for some renovations to finish before I putt his bad boy together but I have pulled all the bits out of the box and am impressed with the finish. Some recent Freewing models I have purchased have had a lot of rough beaded foam which was disappointing. During inspection of the parts I discovered that mine has the reversing ESCs fitted! Win.. But it looks like It still has the 9 blade outrunner system.. I'm sure it will still be awesome. Noting how long the power cables are to the motors, do I need to add capacitors or something. I heard it discussed but wasn't sure what they were exactly..

I'm planning to fly her stock before maybe going for the main gear upgrade but I do plan to soften the nose spring and move the CG back like you folks are doing.

      Cheers!

'The blue tape brings me excessive joy!'

Looks like I chose the V2 launch day to maiden my (now V1) A-10.. What can I say! 2 clicks of up trim and she is flying super sweet. Its such a relaxing flyer it almost didn't feel like a maiden. Had my CG set at 88mm as per the Squawk wisdom and she landed like a leaf with a slight nose up attitude. Put about 4 flight on her over the weekend and I am loving it..

For such a big model it seems to fly so very light. Its not a rocket ship, but its not supposed to be, its an A-10. Got about 5 min of flight time out of my HRB 6K's with mixed throttle.

Very pleased and can't wait to fly it again..

      BRRRRTTT!

I upgraded my V1 fans early on from the stock outrunners and threw in my Mig inrunner fans when I upgraded those. Flies awesome. Also found my preferred balance point at 95mm back. See you're using the SMC HiV 4400's. Fly mine on 2 SMC V2 HiV 5900's, incredible batteries, giving me 7-8 minutes of unadulterated glee.

            • Just wondering if anyone has tried to fit the V2 main gear to the V1??

I went to purchase the upgrade for the V1 mains but RC castle are out of stock. Raymond said its not looking like they are getting anymore. No one in Oz stocks them and shipping from the US is a bit excessive..

If I have to stick with the V1 shopping cart mains it won't kill me but just thought I'd ask and see if it has been tried the V2 Legs.

Maybe I should be the Guinea pig?!

                  it won’t work
the V1 retracts are set in the center of the gondola
then they decided to use the Lonucle armstyle gear it gave it an offset so they placed the retract accordingly

so when they made the straight oleo upgrade gear they had to make it like a P51 offset style

the V2 have the correct style of gear they come straight down and outwards
so they has to redesign the retract mount with an offset

ona side note I finally perfected my split aileron air brakes

                        Hey Pacro..

No worries.. Thanks for the info.. I ended up finding a oleo upgrade set for the V1 and put some Dubro low bounce wheels on that I had lying around..

I am really enjoying this plane.. Super fun to fly!

                        • Anyone loose a rudder on the A-10 V1? I was doing a few of the rudder heavy yaw-rolls I saw Jon from Two Brothers do with his and then while circling to land and flying straight and level at about 3/4 throttle, I heard a pop and saw something leave the plane. To the A-10s credit, I did not see any difference in flight characteristics and at first thought the noise was from someone else. As I was on final and about to touch down, I saw that the starboard rudder was missing and the servo was dangling. The picture shows the affected side of the tail.

Just curious if anyone else had this issue and if there are any remediations recommended. Appreciate any feedback.

                          • Hey guys….this is my second A-10 (v1)…I sold my first one because I got tired about the setup with two batts per flight for 3 minutes of flying. But then I struggled with a couple of dog planes and realized that nothing ever flew as sweet as my A-10. Now I fly with Hi Volts batts and get 4 minutes time with a plane that is the sweetest flyer I have ever had (thank you Alpha!).

My son is a drone videographer and put together a quick short following me one day at the field…enjoy!

Tremendous improvement in thrust and efficiency and more than enough. 7-8 minutes on 2 SMC HiV 5900's and I fly off grass, still very short take-off runs without ever going to full throttle.

My flying buddy upgraded his to twin 90mm inrunners and it's just too much. Full throttle and the decals almost get ripped off in flight 🤣. He upgrades everything and this is the only one even he says is too much thrust, a waste of money.

                              Just my opinion tho
Good info Hugh…so to be clear, you swapped the stock to MiG 12 blade in runners and they fit no problem?

                                    • Hi everyone. I got one of the last V1 80mm A-10s. I have put about 15 flights on my A-10. Previous flights the batteries only differed by about 5% between the two.
On my last flight, I noticed that the battery connected to the BEC drains significantly more than the other one. To the point that the 6s 5000 on the BEC was at 1% and the other 6s 5000 was at 30%. Did not lose anything, just alarming.

Has anyone had this issue? Am I just new to the two battery thing and this is normal and I have to account for it?

Interesting...I have never run across this in any 2-battery ship. Typically, both batteries get drained very close to the same amount. After a flight, capacity remaining should be very close to the same if everything is working normally.

                                        • I agree with GG. I have several planes that take 2 batteries, both prop and EDFs. I have never seen a case where one battery gets drained significantly more than the other. Did you do a comparison test by swapping the batteries on a second flight? It could be the battery and not the side that has the UBEC. Can you be certain that the more drained battery was fully charged to start with? Was one battery damaged or has poor IR?
