Question and help on this, Xicoy Digital Weight & Balance CG Meter. I know this balancer is exspensive, but all batteries weight different, even same brand, like KINEXSIS - 22.2V 7000mAh 30C 6S LiPo Battery, I have 3 of those #-1- is 893grams, #-2- is 907grams, #-3- is 896grams, I bought another one but they stopped making that one, this is the same but new new version - KINEXSIS - 22.2V 7000mAh 30C 6S F-Tek LiPo Battery and #-4- weighs 968grams. I also use and have two KINEXSIS - 22.2V 5000mAh 30C 6S LiPo Battery, reported as weighting 710grams, well one -5-
weighs 753grams and #-6- weighs 756grams. I got 4 Smart Technology batteries by Specktrum, because I needed another charger and these where the lightest batteries I have seen. I have two Smart - 22.2V 5000mAh 30C 6S LiPo Battery, reported as weighting 655grams, and again it really weighs #-7- is 692grams and #-8- weighs 695grams. The other two Smart batteries are Smart - 22.2V 7000mAh 30C 6S LiPo Battery, these where reported as weighting 890grams, #-9- really weighs 932grams and #-10- weighs 947grams. I use these batteries in 6 different planes, well actually only the 22.2V 5000mAh 30C 6S in my Freewing-A-10-Thunderbolt-80mm, I was hoping to use the new Smart - 22.2V 7000mAh 30C 6S and it would have worked at 890grams, but there going to be to heavy.

Wow I sorry about rambling on, but when they say use this battery and move it all the way forward is not always correct, even if you use the battery they recommended, because as you can see they can weigh different weights and it all makes a difference if your trying to get the CG as close as you can to what they recommend for your Maiden flight, like my FlightLine RC Spitfire Mk.IX 1600mm, when I CG it I forgot to do it with the guns and when I put the guns on I had to move the battery !/4 inch father back to get the CG write. Anyway I have related all this to you all because I was one in search for answers to all this and you all have helped, so this is me trying to help those who could use any info about CG, because when you fly especial if your new and the CG is perfect its so much easier and fun and when you change batteries I want your plane to fly like it did when the CG was perfect. hope this helps anyone.

Now back to my Question because when my CG is write then all I have to do is everything else, prep, matinance, wind, cross wind, etc, How good is this "Xicoy Digital Weight & Balance CG Meter", because it would be so much easier to use than my Great Planes Balancer, which has worked great, great price, and works well, but I have 10 planes and 6 of them use the same 10 batteries I use and CG-ing those six is 60 plus times checking CG and its getting old and the Freewing-A-10-Thunderbolt-80mm and the two new FlightLine-F4U-1A-1D Corsairs are very sencitive at the balance point and even the cost would be worth it to me, so anybody that could tell me how accurate it really is would help, thank you, Michael P.S. going to try and attach some photos

    • Now that's a GREAT video. I bet that cost Breitling a pretty penny for that add but that's why their watches cost more than a Rolex! Also, why did they have to go and ruin it by putting a couple babes at the end to detract from those beautiful birds but hey, that's just me! LOLLOLLOL

        • I want to introduce you to a new Vallejo product, it is a paint chipping medium. I think when you look at the photographs you will see that it give more realistic look to paint chipping then painting it them on. This is because it is a true chipping effect. The only drawback to this you have to follow these steps: 1 spray the color you want to show through in this case Vallejo Dull Aluminum, 2 apply the Chipping Medium, 3 then apply the base coat. You will need a good match of the models base coat or you could repaint the model using Vallejo paints as I did on the FL Corsair, I did this for about $5. If I had known of this before I would have done it on the model.

I didn’t quite get the full effect I wanted because I was using HD paint samples and let set up too long.

If you go to https://acrylicosvallejo.com/wp-cont..._2019-Baja.pdf and download the catalog you will see it is very large. Plus under Air Model and in the rear you will see the official colors of every Air Force from WW1 listed.

I buy mine fro Scale Hobbies. Give it a try

                • I see on the F 22 group where some have experienced uncomanded rudder movement when lowering landing gear. They have had some crashes they feel were caused by this. I was lucky, my Corsair did it before my maiden flight. I stopped it by bypassing the blue box and going straight to the rudder and tw steering with a Y connector.

Sounds like a good work around but if it's attributed to the "Blue Box" have you opened a ticket for replacement? I'm sure Motion would stand behind it.

                    • Hi guys, I wanted to share my prop balancing checks with you. As with many modelers you probably have other aircraft interest's through the years and have tools lying around. From my Helicopter days, I have a High Point rolling wheel prop balancer (similar to DuBro) and a 10mm helicopter main shaft with counter weight. I used this for balancing completed helicopter rotorheads.

I have found that you can use this same method with multi prop hubs that use the 10mm shaft size (FW corsair). Of course you can make other shaft / weight sizes to match the project.

1] Positioning the props into different spots on the hub can change the prop tracking and balance. Just moving the prop blades clockwise one place can make all the difference in the world.
2] Placing stickers on the prop will have a slight affect.
                      3] Prop blade weight

So you can use a scale to check the static weight of each prop blade (usually pretty close), measure the sticker distance so they are equal and mount the blades on the hub in different positions. In most cases this should do the trick and not require anything else.
But, for those old school guys that want to see if the balance is correct, this prop balancer will do the job. Carefully sanding or scrapping a small amount of plastic material from the leading edge of the heavy blade will let you achieve the proper balance. Note in my photos, my 10x1200 mm main shaft and counter weight was designed for a much more forward weight making me move the shaft and prop hub further ahead.
Hope this helps and feel free to ask questions.

Ha! When I was a kid, I would point to my friends and say "see Mom", my friends have more control line planes than I do so why can't I get another one? Then my Mom would say"well if your friends decided to jump off a cliff, would you do it too?
" At that point, back talking would not help my position and would usually involve my Dad's belt.:Scared:DOH! There's one good thing about being older right?
