Got same problem... golf excuse worked in the beginning, but when I said I was helping other folks when online, that really calmed the nerves. Never thought of the cost comparisons but I may need that one later.

Yes, Golf comparison worked for me too (in the beginning). One of my flying buddies and Mentor from my club here in Redmond told me not long ago to sit down and add up all the Pedicures, Manicures, Hair appointments, purses, shoes worn once and other "had to haves" and I'd find out real quick the pendulum needs to swing back to center. LOLLOL However, I like being married so I'll only play that card in emergencies! ;)LOL

Saw your YT link and brief comparison on the FMS 1700mm Corsair. I didn't realize it had such a glossy paint scheme. Did you use the same scale (1:8) Aces of Iron pilot for the 1700mm FMS?

Warbird Pilots are nice...The Aces of Iron pilots are the best pilots for the price range I have come across and really do help scale up any model. I have always had someone paint mine for me. AkumaZeto here on the forum offers a painting service and he's tremendously talented! I just reached out to him to see if he would paint mine. If so, I will just have it shipped direct to his place. His service thread with tons of great shots of his work is here.

I am also looking to find someone to download the upgrade cockpit 3Dpup files, put it together and paint it for me as well. I pay a fair price. ;)

Just followed the link to the Aces of Iron site and was blown away. OMG!!! This is a great example that if you have deep pockets for this hobby you can get just about anything. The pilots themselves seem reasonable at around $25 but the painting is the ticket. These pilots are amazing and those who paint them make 'em works of art! I can't paint a wall let alone this level of detail. Too bad they don't come preprinted but I do see there are services that paint pilots. If I read your note right it's around $115+. The reality check for me is it would be ground candy just for me since no one will see the scale at 150' and at 70MPH. :) Still love seeing this stuff. Thanks for sharing the link!

I never imagined there would come a day when we could pull such beautiful big warbirds out of a box and with such little effort go straight out and fly it or do what’s going on here, adding such incredible detail.

O-T, A familiar background here, only Guillows. Didn't catch the RC bug until '81. It is truly remarkable to open the box, find the finished airframe and begin mods/paint. There's a bit-o-reverse engineering but so much fun. Best, LB

My Uncle taught me to fly control line on a Goldberg Wizard in ‘69. Quickly moved up into the big control line models by ‘74 and could fly the old stunt patterns. My friends dad taught me Rc around ‘79 and by the early 80’s I had my own Rc stuff. Models were very expensive back then and I never really had time or money to build more than one or two planes a year. Any crash could set you back an entire year. We are seriously spoiled today and have it made with what has happened to the industry. We are blessed !

Ha ha ha... No expo, direct control, low level. It’s another world. Square loops were the hardest maneuver to perform smoothly.

Anytime the 70’s are mentioned, this is what I was doing.

O-T, Pretty sure I had a Cox .049cc Corsair when I was a kid; birthday gift. Might have been a Bearcat, anyway it was blue. Promptly stuck it in the dirt. I remember gluing it back together and it came apart again when I tried to start it. Cleaned it up and stuck it in the closet. It fell victim to fireworks incident some years later. That's the only CL story I have but at least I wrote Corsair. LOL Best, LB
