For me the P-47 Razorback runs a close second. Both are bad mothers.

Agreed 100%! BTW if you can coach me on how to easily convert raw images to jpeg, I have allot of detail shots of this and other Corsairs including video of startup and wing unfolding video sequences.

If you're using Adobe to preview those raw images, you can export them as jpeg. I guess it depends on what you use to manage those photos

I would totally have to agree with that. The P-47 Razorback is also one bad motha...The P-51D might be the prom queen but the Corsair and the P-47 are her two protective big brothers you don't want to meet in a dark alley.

They were all great planes that excelled at their particular job. The P-51 was an excellent Pursuit that was the best at escorting bombers to and from their target with that great long range. It was no good at ground attack because it could be brought down with one rifle bullet. The P-47 kicked butt in the ground attack roll because of those eight fifty caliber machine guns and the ability to absorb a ton of punishment and still get home. The Corsair was a hell of a dogfighter/bomber with huge kill ratio, speed, and durability. And looked wicked doing it. The P-38 could dogfight like no other with the fifties and the twenty millimeter canon all firing from the center instead of from the wings...very deadly and ruled the Pacific init's theater. They are all bad asses in their own way and helped us show the axis powers who had air superiority.;)O.K. I'm done...couldn't help myself.

Good morning all! Just wanted to speak to the group, as I've been stalking the discussion to get ideas and the real scoop on the plane as I am awaiting the arrival of my Corsair next week. I see all kinds of great work and attention detail here! I can honestly say I'm pretty excited about the plane coming in... I would say I'm beginner/intermediate in my skills on both flying and construction... and looking to improve.

Anyhoo, I have to agree with the Corsair being just a bad ass plane... but I can deny that I love the P-40... when I hear 'warbird' that plane is usually the first one that comes to mind!

Might be a good idea to have a experienced pilot standing with you on the maiden.... just in case you need some help :) We have all been there.

Great flying airplane just mind your airspeed on the landing approach

                      Welcome to the F4U squadron

Me too!! All time favorite helicopter. I grew up close to an army base, so I've watched it all my life... well at least until the Army retired them. Yes that is the 500 Roban. I'm working on the 700 one now.

FMS 1700 P51? It didn't look like a foamy. Is that the "Ferocious Frankie?" Would have loved that one but I think they discontinued it. In fact I hear Horizon / Tower are now the main source for FMS but all their P51s are on B/O so I bought the Hangar 9 P51 20cc but making it electric.

                                        Say Brandon,
I know you have posted pictures of how you modified the cowel to accept the FMS F7F Tigercat cylinders. If you wouldn’t mind, could you possibly post a description of how you did it? The pictures are great but I do have some questions. For example, you must have cut the Flightline cylinders out of the cowel and then place them individually behind the FMS cylinders - or so I think.
A brief “how to” would be much appreciated.

                                        Thanks,
