Thanks, Aros. Too windy to fly today, but I hope tomorrow morning will be suitable to put some more flights on it. A grand total of TWO so far!! (LOL)

Always good to have a model completed and successfully flown. Danger Dan and I are working on another mod for it, probably one not done by anyone else that I know of for a model of this size. More on that later...

            Cheers

            • Meantime, since there's no way short of a divorce that I can afford this Mustang, I'll have to live vicariously through Dave!
Have a project going (one of many) doing some rebuilding and wing replacement on my old and trusty FMS P40. New wings and battery hatch, 3d printed firewall (my design), new old pilot and a new Vertical stab, all parts I had laying around.

Now, you know you've been in the hobby a while when you can get a pic like this and realize that EVERY plane in this pic, with the exception of the Avanti, is discontinued!
And that it doesn't have the FL F7F Tigercat in it.

              • Grossman56,
A nice squadron of planes. Keeping and rebuild/update these older planes shows how well you take care of them. Most after a major crash throw them in the trash can. Enjoy seeing these older ones still flying.
                Best Regards, Rex

                • Thanks Rex! Come to think about it, yeah every one of these with the exception of the Hardway P-40 has spent time in the slammer!
So has the Bearcat but it's not discontinued.

                  • I had a slight mishap with my P-51D yesterday morning, and it has made me reconsider the parameters I'll stay within to prevent it from happening from here on out. Due to winds frequently increasing to unacceptable levels for foamies at my home field during the day, I fly my planes in the summer as early as possible and it usually works out well. However, I found yesterday I was flying my plane in what I call "silhouette mode" where the sun angle on the plane makes it look like all black and difficult to know what its attitude is as it zips by in the pattern. Yesterday, while flying my P-51, I decided to cut the flight short for that reason. Also, our east-west runway has the sun right off the end early on this time of year and that can be a Huge problem. While maneuvering my plane for landing under those conditions, I got the plane a bit too slow just above the ground and it stalled. Not major damage, but one of the main landing gear struts will need to be replaced. And I have to go to China for the parts as MRC is totally out of stock on many items. It will be down for 2-3 weeks.

This morning, I took up Hairless Joe and my Cougar, but waited a bit longer until the sun was higher. That totally fixed that silhouette problem, and landings were pretty good and predictable on my P-47 and Cougar. And SO much better and easier to see them fly. So, I've learned something.

                    Cheers

I'll attach a pic of Hairless Joe after its 12th flight this morning. Great flyer!
