Here's a test that makes it easy to understand for people not at electronics. Look at the difference between a super cap in the farads and a standard electrolytic in microfarads.
You can spot weld with 500F at 2.7 volts, so do you

First post here.
Me and a team (we're in the UK) are building a single seat electric endurance car. Not RC I know, but it will share a lot of the technology. We started looking at motors several weeks ago, with efficiency being the primary goal. We started with Astro, then Neu, and finally landed on Lehner. After comparing the datasheets (of which Lehner's is by far the most useful) we're pretty set on the Lehner TorqStar 1 7025 in the 40 wind configuration.
I asked Andreas Lehner which ESC would go well with this motor and he has pointed me to a German consultant that deals with the VESC controllers. He charges for his time (no issue with that) but before we stump up the cash I wanted to ask around on a few forums and see what other people think.

Also read this thread and you will understand that Bayerns choice in the slot less motors is not without its own set of issues. And as I said before their rotors have slipped shafts in the past so their rotors are not perfect either.
This statement stand out about the slotless machine. If you read the thread youll also understand why I think an illegal boat with Lehner in it was allowed to run in our sanctioned body without being measured for its legality and I stand by that. Ralf Moser has had the opportunity to take a photo of the boat measured and will not. Im sorry but extremely suspect. One look and it begs to be measured at a fair and legit SAW competition.

You will cook it on 12s...guaranteed. They are finicky motors. If everything is not balanced and aligned perfect it will vibrate a blow the windings. Guaranteed.
Chris is there Ralph all the time and does not touch these type threads on the American forums....very opportunistic AFAIC and when I read the pyro 900 thread it reads like another pitch for LMT and not real help. I really wish the forums would keep vendors that do that out of the technical sections .
I've decided to stick with NEU in my boats so maybe that's his issue . But I don't see how what Lehner did helps a pyro 600 on a gearbox.

The finicky motor comment will be left unaddressed but Its been laying there since November of 2023. Sound like he saying the potting windings lose position. Guy claims he has a collection of these failures. Don't know but Chris is there and silent like you are here....
For reasons like this is why I made the split. Our goals hardly ALIGN...
I'm not worried about a profit or driving Ferraris, so I don't have to lie to the forums and avoid all technical inquiries into issues with my machine.
At least you address stated consumer issues with your motor of choice....my man just gets missing.

Also Kosmik has this problem sometimes with the own kontroni factory motors!
Speed pilots often have to spin the motor by hand to a btter position to get the ESC armed.
Weak flown magnets can also cause the described problem.
In last Time I saw some Pyros with demagnetisizedones.
Could be, that their supplier has cheated them with lower temperature resistant magnets.
Noboby checks this in motor production process!
Here you are talking about PYROs and put in hobbyist head that kontronics lies but what happens with the sync with YGE and Scorpion? Does scorpion lie because you all said the magnets are stable to 180 but yet you have demagnetized rotors while claiming your motor run ay 70C so which part is the lie from you?
How do you bring up low induction when a YGE 320 with 16khz of pulse width modulation
A Kontronics Kosmic is worlds above a YGE320 and all heli pilots know the pyro is more sought after than any scorpion.
U all up in the technical sections selling >93 percent knockers again. Not even Lucien does that in the middle of a help thread.

Copper surface: 8.87mm^2 (+ ~15%)
Mass: 230gr
This motor is used in a plane (enclosed) and typically draws about 125A max in the air which is about 4300W. The highest case temperature seen so far is about 70deg C.

Don't know about the Scorp, but this is the info & feedback I got for the rewound Pyro 600:
It is installed in a Logo550SX for a lightweight setup.
Esc: YGE 120LV
Blades: 520mm
Fying weight a little over 3kg.
Feedback (I just translate from dutch):
Headspeed is the same. Heli feels more powerful. Motor runs cooler than before and esc a little warmer. YGE seems to be more comfortable, no dips in rpm anymore.
Strange thing: when I fly with higher headspeed the esc and motor run cooler. Positive aggression!
Setup now invites to fly more aggressively.

Do you see the hobbyist response about YGE partial load not being worth much??? You will never hear it about and inverter from Sobek Drives . Kosmic is one of the best active freewheelers on the market.

You dont post these detuning moments when you are talking about yourself and the OEM winding from Kontronic and Plettenburg are better than your rewind....😀 These Graphs never make it far from the German social media where everything you do is gold...but these losses of efficiency are about 1.5 fold throughput power loss.

World Champions specified the Pyros Iv'e looked at it and its a lil powerhaus!!!! You know you lost ya world record to one. The Pyro have a considerably better hp to weight ratio than a scorpion.Comment

Bert even posted what timings he derived his figures from and you see he post 18 degrees 👀
The pot calls a kettle black coz u posted numbers taken at zero degree timing on RCG and auto timing will never set it there under a heavy load.
Skewing results for the forums is a hobby in itself for some of us...

I know you signed off now of course but I just want to say i've never watched "experts" debate for two days how to remove a slot less windings from a case.... Good way to confuse the hobbyist inquiries. For him he's probably saying now. What is right? Why not just send the motor back to Mathias at Pletti. What's the point of reinventing the wheel if the new wheel wont be better...
Man just push the entire winding and core out with a press. Once you break the initial bond its going to slide right out the core and wires together. The epoxy glue cannot fight 2 -20 tons. 🤡 Once it is out you cut the heads off with a dremel cut off wheel on one side of the core and push them out and then move on to the next part of the franken motor!
Which would be regluing the core in the case then re stuffing it.
The rotor with cheap inconsistent non QC'd pm is still not likely to perform like Plettenberg OEM...
