Cool! you should have no issues getting your 80mm mirage setup right away, just send a PM to the owner of the fb page owner: https://www.facebook.com/thelightbur...location=group

WARNING! – WARNING! – WARNING!
This may be old news but if your research for products and supplies turns up a RC supplier called VampowerPro or Urban Products Inc. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT try to buy anything from them, not even a screw because that’s what you’ll get!!! I learned the hard way and though I didn’t lose any money (my CC company reversed charges) I wasted so much time chasing them for information. They don’t take calls; their mailbox is full and don’t return any emails and I just learned this has been going on for 8+ years. My bad for not conducting any due diligence on them. I’ve never seen any company as bad as these dirt bags and I’m surprised PayPal hasn’t shut them down so heed the warning!

stay clear wasted 2 months ordering some specialized batteries for my Devo 12s....only to learn that the package arrived in Washington which never was tracked by any US carrier.
Paypal understood the issue and refunded my money but the time lost was the real loss

More flying this weekend! Need to knock on wood but this is my original bird (purchased as a Kit plus) and she has been getting lots of use over the years! I have had to replace a couple parts due to fatigue but thankfully the plane is still intact! Lost an aileron servo in flight and even had the fin blow off once! Kept it in the air though and didn't kill it! There is a Make over coming soon too that will be unique to all out there. As of the last couple months she has been getting even more flying time! I got more yesterday and will post!Check me out on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/user/gooniac33

Best flights from two weeks ago...
I installed an FMS 12 blade fan with 2000kv motor, Gooniac RC EDF Creations LED Afterburner set up and A3L Gyro installed by my buddy Frank Mokaya, battery is a Turnigy Heavy Duty 6s 60c 5000mah pack push pretty far back. The plane is so much fun! Check out the take offs, touch n goes and landings... they were always good but now with the new Gyro its even better!!

Hate to leave you out in the cold, saw your message earlier and see that no one has responded to you, so I will.Originally posted by flyinhigh042 View PostHas anyone used the stock Freewing L-39 fan/motor in the MiG-21? (3530-1850kV Brushless Outrunner Motor / 12 blade fan)
Thanks!

the 3530 outrunner motor will be fine at the kv you have rated
assuming the outer shroud of your edf is 82.8mm

No reason why it wouldn't work! Same dimensions and should bolt right in no problem!Originally posted by flyinhigh042 View PostHas anyone used the stock Freewing L-39 fan/motor in the MiG-21? (3530-1850kV Brushless Outrunner Motor / 12 blade fan)

Awesome!! Glad to hear it worked and thanks for keeping in touch about the burner installation! I am here for step by step info if you need it. You are gonna love it too! I have been working on these things since 2011. Its taken a while to get it out but the right stuff is finally available to use. More and more set ups are being added too! If you get more planes that need them let me know. I have one for virtually all 80-90mm Freewing EDFs and some select inrunner equipped birds from other brands.Originally posted by flyinhigh042 View PostThanks for the input guys. I pulled the trigger on the blue ARF Plus version today.
Gooniac, this will be the home for your afterburner. Looking forward to it!Check me out on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/user/gooniac33

Hello veteran MiG-21 pilots. ;-) I took the MiG out for the maiden earlier. I only flew it once. I feel lucky to have landed safely. Takeoff roll was a little longer then I had expected. From the first turn on the initial climb I could tell something wasn’t quite right. It immediately felt overall unstable. So much so, I wasn’t able to really feel it out and trim for level flight. I made a few subsequent turns finding it to still be unstable, particularly in roll. At one point it even rolled completely inverted, uncommanded! I quickly dropped the gear and first notch of flaps. It remained just stable enough to make a couple more turns to final and land without further issue.
I decided to call it a day after the very eventful first flight. I put the MiG back on the bench and started going through the setup again. All control throws look good, and expo rates are set up correctly.
I then re-checked the CG. I found it to be (slightly?) nose heavy. CG was found to be at about 10.2”. (Measured the CG with the jet upright and landing gear extended) Is the delta winged MiG very sensitive to FWD CG position? Is everyone finding the recommended CG of 10.5” to be a good spot?
At at this point the CG location at the time of the maiden is the only potential issue I have been able to identify. I was flying with the gyro turned off for the first flight.
Thanks!
