Official Freewing 90mm F-16 V2 EDF Jet Thread

Question! I am trying to find the main gear replacement for my F16 v2. Motion has one that is similar but it doesn’t say that it fits the f16 v2. Does any of you know where I can find it?

Hi, I bought F-16 V2 90 mm EDF last week. I m an intermediate RC pilot. Now I am looking for a suitable Guard Gyro for my airplane. Do you have any advise? HobbyEagle, Freewing ext. ?

Well, in the meantime, I've been able to break the aircraft in pretty well... 10 full flights of 4+ minutes in the 8S version with 5000mAh LiPos.

It's a jet with a takeoff weight of 4200g including battery, making it a rather heavy aircraft at this scale (1:10), and you can definitely feel that, despite the almost perfectly tuned gyro (AS3X+). But I'd like to point out one advantage right away: the relatively high weight of the 8S version and a CG a good 2.5cm behind the mark (battery at the rear stop of the foam ramp) result in a flight pattern and feel as if I were flying a manned aircraft. All the more so, given that the truly wonderful AS3X+ now functions not just like a gyro, but actually like an attitude computer! I took off and flew the aircraft without an active gyro on the first flight, trimmed it... but landing would have been too tricky.
That's why I landed with the gyro active on my first flight... wow, no problems, and the thing lands like it's on rails, even the wind is a minor issue - really! I think with the update from Spektrum's AS3X to AS3X+, Spekturm has once again achieved a milestone in the field of gyros, something you can't find anywhere else on the market, not even from PowerBox Systems or Jeti, nor from AURA8. I love this jet; despite its weight, it's extremely maneuverable, very fast (a good 200 km/h, not measured yet), and very easy to fly and land with AS3X+ active. I got my gyro settings from the YouTuber TwoBrother I mentioned earlier; this guy does an excellent job in this regard!

Conclusion:
I can recommend this jet to any experienced pilot because - fun is guaranteed!
Cobra, cobra spin, and flat spin maneuvers work very well thanks to the CG positioned far back!

A jet that can be flown very faithfully, except that the inertial effect of much larger models is still not achieved, which should be clear, but otherwise, slow high-G or high-alpha maneuvers are very successful and look fantastically realistic.
This F-16 can, of course, also be flown without a gyro, but then please position the CG further forward or as described in the instructions. Otherwise, good luck with the landing.

The nose wheel has a diameter of 45mm and the main wheel 60mm

For 6S I would just run a 6S 5000-6000 mAh LiPo battery. For 8S, you can choose between two 4S in series, or one 6S and one 2S LiPo in series or a single 8S LiPo. It's really just a preference thing. She's heavy so you will want to consider weight.

For my 8S version I have a 6S and 2S I am going to try out on the maiden. I also bought a single 8S for this model I will try out as well.

I personally prefer this heavy model 8S with 8S 5000mAh batteries = very good power by 4 min. Fly-Time with 1 min Reserve:

Well then... good luck, you'll need it. Because this jet is definitely not for beginners! I don't want to scare you, but even some experienced pilots can't consistently land this jet softly. It's best to buy two of them.

Have you guys run it with the afterburner kit? Does that make a huge difference on draw vs flight time? I'll be using the admiral 5000 map that the motion site reccomended

Great day for a maiden. The grass was freshly mowed at our club so I thought, "why not?" Takeoff was hairy as it hit a berm and pitched the nose dang near straight up (so it felt like) a good 50 feet or so before I was ready to rotate so I was fighting the sticks from the start. Definitely nose heavy with both RunCam 6's strapped to the top of the canopy. After a minute or so I was able to trim her out a little and get her flying more straight and level. Flew on a SMC 8S 5900 mAh 90C LiPo.

Came in hotter than I normally would due to being a maiden. Landed okay but hit the bumpy mesh "runway" which caused it to do a little wing tip salsa at the end which caused the nose to dig in a touch. Broke the tip and lost the antenna. Everything else was untouched. A new nose cone and she will look as good as new. Jury is still out on overall speed and performance since I was spending the entire flight trying to get her trimmed out. Next flight should be more solid and I can put her through her paces then. The guys at the field loved her!

PS…That blue and white camo did its job against the blue sky and white clouds. Yikes! I will eventually look into a repaint.

Great, congratulations. One more tip: during your first few flights, it's important to do a few straight flights... I always do at least five consecutive flights on a maiden flight, so you can fine-tune the settings much more precisely and get a very good baseline in one evening or morning. But not everyone has to do it like I did. ;-)

May I ask why you start from grass when there is a wonderful flat track next to it? It's easy to roll down mesh runways in the spring, so they don't get bumpy. Personally, I still prefer flying on bumpy mesh runways to grass, it bumps even more.

Indeed, the "wonderful flat track" is actually anything but. It's old as dirt, incredibly bumpy with tears left and right, and frankly is unusable. My club has new mesh to put down but they haven't yet. So for now, grass it is.

The prep for the Blue Angel livery was easy peesy! Nozzle, canopy and lights. Done! A stark contrast from the Arctic Camo I just finished for my A-10.

I suppose it could be any dark blue if the yellow markings are good.
