Thanks, I have done a TON of these R2800 wiring harnesses! Any questions, let me know.

You can see what the Corsair V3 prop looks like on this airplane. The differences are distinct and impressive when compared to the OEM prop from FMS. Still, I think doing your initial maiden and testing with the plane is good to do with the OEM prop, which I think you said you were going to do. Then you'll be ready for the bigger prop, which is not a big deal.

    Best,

    • GOOD NEWS!!!
      The bushings finally arrived!
The envelope looks like it's been dragged through a war. Mailed on Dec 18 and arrived on Jan 14, now that's service!

      • Dan,

Looks like it has seen many Indian fights and dropped on many Bordello floors. Wonder what the Pony Express rider looks like, and his horse?

Glad it finally made it, gives me hope in our federal gov't using our money wisely. LOL!

Yep, Buffalo Bill delivered himself or tried to back when he rode Pony Express, ah the stories that envelope could tell.
At least they arrived, we had a Christmas card from one of our daughters that got here just in time for the following Christmas and she's in Idaho!
Maybe the Pony Express wasn't such a bad idea after all lets see, it got replaced by the telegram which is extinct now as well, wonder how they delivered parcels??Oh yeah, Federal Express, known as Wells Fargo. Of course this is Wyoming have to watch out for the Wild Bunch and the infamous Kid Chleen!

              • Hi everyone, I’m about to assemble this model. Can I rely on the manual for rates? Particularly elevator rates?

I thought the Elevator High Rate to be too much. Low rate was good. I was also nose heavy, so take from this what you will. My 'feeling' was that of over sensitive on the OEM high rate setting. All this was on mid to mid-high throttle. Best, LB

              • Thanks LB. From what I know about corsairs is that they are pitch sensitive. I’m gonna start with low rates on the elevator.

                is manual cg good? 100mm?

I went to 105mm, but my Corsair was heavy overall with all the mods I made to her. I will remove some nose weight and use a lighter battery 5000 vs 6250 mah for the next round of flights. I will still use 105 as my CG. I will use the low rate for starters and readjust my high rates closer to the OEM low rates. This model wants to fly from the start. I didn't use any T/O flaps and she was up and away before I realized it. Very stable once on step and half to 2/3 throttle is more the sufficient for great flight times.

              • Fantastic thanks LB.

Let me know if the bushings fit ok. I measured the OD of the P-47 axles because I didn't want to tear-up my Corsair Struts. I can make more if they are not correct.

                      • Got some stills off a video showing the rebuild of a bird cage Corsair. As I suspected, the main landing gear hatches were also the 'salmon' colored zinc chromate. Also, the R 2800 is the proper type for the bird cage as well. Good stuff!

Great shots of an early birdcage Corsair, Dan.

Hey, I have the Spittie cockpit files from Elbee. I can print them off for you soon. I also need the RAF pilot files if you could resend them to me on my normal email address: davegianakos510@gmail.com when you can. I can't pull them out of the email you sent then to a couple of weeks ago.

                          Thanks!

And the gear door wells are in the correct color. I used three coast and varied the color slightly to give it a used look. A brush also adds to that effect whereas spraying it is going to look factory fresh.

Dave has the control stick on the way and I've done some touch ups on the cockpit. Just debating on what more I want to do before I seal it up. One thing I thinking about is the frame around the bullet proof glass, any suggestions?

Your pilot is a stud, Bro.

The 'salmon' interiors are exquisite, just add dirt....

                              • Yeah, wonder how he's doing? I was thinking of him while I was painting.

It's actually getting to the point where I can check off most of my 'to do' list, although Dave's bringing over another handful The scissors are going to look cool, I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the strut color. I imagine they were just dull silver and greasy. Also, we'll get the bearings in the wheels which would be great as well.
