Buzztower, I like what you've done with you Spit! Could you give us some details please? Like which paint's did you use, and is that flight metal in the center of your wing, Or just a different shade of Aluminum?

Thanks for kind words on my Spitfire.
Different shades of Testor's Model Masters and Krylon rattle can. Flight Metal in spots. The different shades seem to make the paneling/control surfaces have more depth. Callie Graphics for stripes and roundels.

Beautiful shots, Bajora!
I got mine assembled on the weekend and had some thoughts about the wing wiring. Firstly, I didn't care for the proximity of the blue box wiring to the elev. and rudder servos so made a shield to keep them apart. Secondly, I wasn't going to mess with the top strobe light wire when putting the wing (I'll have to transport with the wing removed) on so soldered on an extension and ran it to the battery bay. It's mate runs up from the box... Lastly, I bundled the wires as shown and they now are easily inserted into the battery bay as the wing is lowered into position. After doing up the wing and turning the model upright the connections are easily made in the battery bay to 3'extensions from the RX. Easy!:Cool: The last thing will be to install a 3 plug Ashlock connector so's there's only the one plug (two with the strobe) but I'll have to be in the mood for that.

Regarding C.G. I was was wondering how my cockpit mod would affect things but knew everything would need to go as far forward as possible. I discovered the ESC can go forward considerably, as shown, and the CC BEC will go up there too- attachment points yet to be made. Configured like this ( with a 740 g. battery all the way forward) she balances at 90 mm. :Cool:

Got the canopy peeled off and a more realistic color (or colour, in Britain) in the cockpit, also found some material to replicate the Sutton harness, getting all set for the arrival of 'Skipper' from AK's paint job, so far it looks super!!

Pilot in the cockpit, also posted on Pilot Painting Service, but couldn't resist. He's just placed inside, have some gluing and trimming the Sutton harness to join up, but WOW what a great job!!! Thanks AZ!!

Broke down and bought a quart of Minwax matte finish, yes it does exist!
I found it on Amazon after checking with my local Ace Hardware Store. They didn't have it and I can understand that as it's probably not a hot ticket item. Apparently Home Depot may have it, but that's a 2.5 hour drive one way, cheaper just to have it shipped in.
The trouble with living in the Wild West, have to wait for the Stage to bring it in!LOL
Anyway, the reason was that the Satin Finish made it go dark, so I'm hoping to recover some of the original color with a matte finish, we'll see...
I think if I had it to do over again, I'd have applied the Minwax first then the paint, note to self...

My Spit got outdoors yesterday for the first time. The markings are from a restored aircraft flying here in Canada that is dedicated to pilot Arnold Roseland, a Canadian lost over France in '42. Weathering was done with pastel chalks followed with Krylon flat spray, the graphics from Callie. She already had the "Y2K" on file so somebody else out there has one too.
While setting up the servos etc., plugging and unplugging the battery, the ESC started failing to initialize (with the beep sequence) intermittently and now seems to have quit for good. If any throttle at these times was applied a nasty knocking came from the motor, making me think timing to the motor was messing up. When the initialization was normal though the motor ran fine, so I don't think it's that. I don't recall seeing ESC problems mentioned but has anyone encountered this? I have a ticket in with MRC so hope to hear from them soon.
