Grossman, the wife did a awesome job with the camera. Looks like you were having a blast which is what we do with that radio in our hands.

Exactly! First flight was a 'feel her out' and the second was a 'let's see what she'll do' fun flight. Very scale!
It was sure great to se Ryan fly the first one to hit the North American coast last year at Nefi, gave me a good idea of what to expect.
One thing that gave us a thrill was when he rolled in flaps with the dial. Not so good, it was iffy for a moment.
So he put the flaps on a switch and gave her full flaps on the first setting and the second position was with a bit of up elevator which worked great so I duplicated that on mine.
What I found was that if I go to full flaps (with up elevator) she'll pitch up until the gear is deployed, so what I'm going to do is go to position one (full flaps with now elevator), wait until the gear is deployed then go position two, see if that smoothes it out.
If not, I'll take a bit of up elevator out.
It's like the Tigercat in that respect. There's quite a delay between hitting the switch and the gear deploying on the Tigercat so I dump the gear and wait five seconds or so then deploy flaps.
Works great.
BTW, on the blue box, there is an input for the gear doors if you were using it in a plane with sequenced doors such as the Mustang.
I put one of my retracts in that plug inadvertently and now the gear deploys in a very scale-like manner, if you didn't see the video...Team Gross!Comment

G'day fellas, need a little help please. Got the spitty pretty much finished, but I can't get the esc to initialise. Every time I connect the battery, the esc just emits a very rapid beep beep beep and doesn't stop until I unplug the battery.
Interestingly, my a-10 does the same thing, if I plug the side in without the ubec first. If I plug the ubec one in first - no issues. Weird.
Any ideas???
Thanks. :)Comment

Now that's strange!
I know you're an experienced builder, so don't take this as anything but thinking out loud.
Throttle is at lowest position.
Airplane is bound to the receiver.
Radio is on the correct channel.
ESC is plugged into the correct channel in the receiver.
I know, these are basic things, but you never know, maybe try a different receiver.....

Shirty..............right off the ESC manualG'day fellas, need a little help please. Got the spitty pretty much finished, but I can't get the esc to initialise. Every time I connect the battery, the esc just emits a very rapid beep beep beep and doesn't stop until I unplug the battery.

After power on, motor does not work,
such an alert tone is emitted:
“beep-, beep-, beep-” (Every “beep-” has
a time interval of about 0.25 second)
The throttle stick is not in the
bottom (lowest) position
Move the throttle stick to bottom position
Try lowering you throttle trim to near the lower limits ;)Warbird Charlie

Appreciate any input fellas, despite my experience I am Australian so a dumb moment can come anytime lol.
Tried the throttle range, lowering the trim etc. thanks for the esc manual, looked everywhere on the net for it and couldn't find it. It's definitely point 2 or 3 in the troubleshooting bit. I tried replacing the receiver as well. I've got a spare castle 100 at home I'm going to try swapping out the esc next see if that makes any difference. Any suggestions are welcome thanks fellas. :)Comment

Hey all, I know this is a bit off topic, but I have a Dave Platt 1/5 scale pilot figure NIB, I had bought in the 80's for a future large-scale Spitty project. I won't be using it and thought I'd ask here in the Official Spit Thread before placing it in the RCG Classified section. Would accept any reasonable offers as I have no idea what it is worth. If you're interested send me a PM. Best, Elbee3 Photos"I am having an extraordinary ordinary life."~Lucky B*st*rd~

Got it sorted, thanks boys appreciate all the advice. Short version is that it was calibrating the throttle range, but for some reason I had to reverse the channel first before it would accept it. Once I reversed it back it was fine. Weird.... but hey it works! Thanks again! :)Comment

Great news!!
Now get that nose painted blue and fly it!

Lol mate, I've considered it ;) No, not really, she's too pretty as is. I was going to do the grey nurse raaf scheme, but after sitting on my table for a week, the stock scheme has really grown on me, gonna stick with this, at least for a bit.
cant wait to fly it. :)Comment

Rightio, one more question.... I hope. Gman you'll prob know mate considering the vid above. Which ports in the board is the gear SUPPOSED to go in??? Like your vid, I'm getting seperate travel - but much worse. One retract goes, wait 5-6 seconds, then the other. I don't mind a small split, but it's too much and won't make for good flying with just one gear down while I wait for the other. I'm happy with a small gap, or simultaneously. And it's not like the manual is clear on which port to put em in.... are they both supposed to go in the left side?

I think both go in the left side, but I put one in the right side and one in the left so it has that scale look to it.
The lights can be easily mixed up too, ask me how I know:Silly:

Shirty..........FL used the same integrated circuit module connection board on the Spitty as they used on the P-38.Rightio, one more question.... I hope. It's not rocket science mate.;) Hook em up as labeled. The retracts hook to the L-G (left side). Since you don't have gear doors(right side), no worries.....leave blank.
The gear door side is the FL version of the FMS independent 6 sec delay circuit card.
That's how Gman got the delay(way over delay) between the two gears by plugging one in the gear the other in the door:Scared: Don't see how he confused the lights
You now have it in a nut shell :Whew:Warbird Charlie

I've never had any issue with the FL/FW control boxes, the majority are passive and act just as a centralized connection point. ;)Warbird Charlie

Got a question for alpha, Ryan and mike....
its no biggie, haven't even finished building yet but was wondering if I can you use your intro motion vid for my spitty video? Again, it's not a big deal and haven't decided if I want to include it or not anyway, or just use your logo like in my a-10 or avanti vids. As you know, Ive been extremely happy with the service you guys give, and all the work you guys do here helping us enthusiasts, listening to what customers want and interacting with us etc. (I'm a big fan of your business practices). So I've been giving you guys a plug on my vids with the planes I bought from you. I didn't think the motion logo was a big deal, but thought I should check first (and it's just courtesy, as well as your intellectual property), before using your intro animated vid??? Just asking, thanks. Cheers boys.Comment

Hey Shirty, thanks for asking, that's mighty polite of you. Indeed you're correct, our video intro is IP; it signifies an Official Motion RC video and separates it from other videos on the internet by employees on their personal YouTube channels, partners and their self-generated content, and other customers like yourself creating a personal video. Accordingly, unfortunately we can't sanction the intro's use anywhere else except on our official videos.. over time it would just get confusing. I hope you understand.
Enjoy your Spitfire!
