Nice group of fighters my down under brother! Looks so nice there, wide open spaces with plenty of room for me to crash out in the open without going on a treasure hunt through the Everglades and stumbling upon Alligator Alcatraz by mistake! I'll be right over! And I agree completely with what Elbee said, whatever the hell that was, you crazy Irishmen. As long as there's drinking involved, I'm there!

Let me get this straight, an Aussie and an Irishman will be flying F-16s together in the friendly skies.

Sounds like the beginning of many great sorties and stories.

Looking forward to the tales, Lads.

                        • I flew my Viper today. It was a crazy flight. I thought the plane would never land. It was sluggish and poorly responsive to altitude. I set the settings to low, as per the instructions. The HRB package is as pictured, and there's a lot of up-trimming. What should I improve? The package is backward?

Some clarification ............................. Is this your first flight on this plane? Are you running 6s or 8s?
"plane would never land" ............................... Do you mean it was very floaty and didn't descend easily?
"poorly responsive to altitude" ....................... Do you mean it didn't seem to have good power on take off and climb? Are those spring loaded cheater holes easily opened upon high throttle application? Or are they stuck shut when taking off and climbing? When mine came out of the box, those cheater doors were stuck shut from the paint. I had to push them open to break the paint seal. If they are stuck shut, the plane will feel like it's only got 1/2 power.
"settings to low" ........................... what settings? Do you mean "low" rates?
"HRB" ..................... What "C" rating are those batteries. HRB's aren't real good for high draw applications unless you are running an 8S set up. Then the 8S power overcomes any deficiency in the LiPo's delivery. For 6S high draw applications, HRBs are not a consideration for me.
"Package is backward" ............................ Please explain. What do you mean by "backward"?

Yes, it was my first flight, using the 6S package. I fly several jets, and these packages provide plenty of power, so there's no problem with that. It reacted very slowly to the elevator; I had to deflect the entire stick. I have a 40-degree Expo. I meant low control deflection values. I flew on a windless day, and the plane didn't slow down at all, which is why it wouldn't land. In my opinion, airbrakes don't matter. Regarding the batteries, should I retract it to improve CG and elevator response? I hope I've made my experience with this model more specific. Regards.

                              • The F-16's, both the original and V2 fly heavy, even on 8S. This plus a nose heavy plane caused your elevator authority to be weak. I suggest adding some elevator throw and checking how your plane is balance by flying inverted and seeing how much down elevator is needed to fly level.

                                • I concur with what Evan said. This jet is heavy. The other jets that you use these HRBs in ............... are they as heavy? On 6s, I found I had to be in the upper part of the throttle almost all the time. I find those "air brakes" make a lot of difference, but only if you give them time to work ............ IE, have a longer approach to the runway so the speed can come down before it gets there. Failing this, you may consider flaperons.
As for the HRBs, I find them to be - "mid-tier" LiPos but that's depends on the "C" rating. The ones I use are 50C (more like 30C). They do make them in 100C but I can't get those easily. Again, are your cheater doors opening freely?

                                  • Thanks for the replies. I fly the Typhoon and the Al-37 and the HRB handles well. The intakes open very quickly, about 30% throttle. Next flight, I'll increase the elevator deflection and move the batteries back 1 cm. I'm also considering adjusting the flaperons for landing.

                                    • My first flight was awsome factory mid throws. 50 percent xpo.. don't like dual rates.. HRB 6000 smack bang on CG marks.. and I found it landed very nice 👍. No flaperons. In fact slower than. My f4. It's 6s. It is heavyer than the 8s phantom. But to me flys easier

                                      • Gents, I bought the ARF PLUS to replace my PNP that hit the dirt. Installing the power plant, I notice there’s a lead coming out of the ESC that is inexplicably like 1 inch long. Plugging everything in and binding, I am getting the usual beep every two seconds telling me the ESC is not arming.

I assume this weird little lead is the BEC you need to plug into an available port on the receiver. All good and well but how the hell can you plug a 1 inch lead into a receiver that is a foot away? Yes I get you need a foot extension but I don’t recall needing that extension when I removed it from the original PNP?

                                        What am I missing here?
