Thanks RCAV8R, I 'll check it out. I have dozens of the Walk Around books on various WWII warbirds but not for the Hog. They used to be cheap through historic aviation or aviation history catalogues but I haven't checked in quite awhile. Those little star things all over the plane are kind of a nuisance for detail work.They really get in the way of any serious weathering other than "squint scale". What is the deal with those?:Confused:Brad

I don't know, but neither my Stinger 90 or my Carbon Z T-28 have them! That Corsair was 5 years old...maybe an old process? Probably won't be an issue for the A-10!

Are you asking about the steam ports in the mold? If you are talking about the very regular clusters of bumps on the surface of the part that's what they are. EPO and other bead based foams are molded by pouring small solid plastic beads that have a solvent dissolved in them into the mold, close the mold, inject steam into the mold to melt and swell the beads and then allow to cool and solidify. Google steam chest molding for more details.

Thanks for the info Pete, I was somewhat aware of the process. I just don't like those "steam ports". Like RCAV8R said, some planes don't have them........different process I guess. It would be great if you could sand them off before painting. Just sayin', Brad P.S. They also mess with my decals sometimes.

If you don't see the little "flowers" (as a lot of people call them) on the top of your plane, then turn it over. Typically they are only on one side of the mold, and it's usually the bottom of most horizontal surfaces. Every single foam plane I own has them (and these are from various manufacturers), including all of the latest offerings from Freewing/FlightLineRC. Maybe they have a different process for the CarbonZ planes.

Are those acrylic RCjetdude, or enamel? My thought was, in looking at Alpha's photos, it appeared he used (and tested with sticky notes with color samples) a slightly darker shade to airbrush just the panel lines. This gave the appearance of fading in the center of sections, as the original shade was slightly lighter. Maybe I'm over-thinking it, but it sure looked good! Rob

They are just Acrylic Latex samples. I painted my Mig with the stuff and it has held up very well. I think Alpha may have used an air brush to pre-shade and then sprayed thinned layers of color until he got the desired look. I never used an air brush on my Mig. Just black and burnt umber color washes.
