Long story short, you can read previous threads, but this jet flys really good, close to the Avanti in my opinion. I moved the battery back as far as I could and it is a completely different plane.
I have not replaced the nose wheel and strut yet, and anticipate a much quicker rotation after.
This is a good flying EDF and I don't understand why it is not that popular with the community.
Don't take me wrong here, the A-10 is #1, the Avanti #2, in my opinion, but the Stinger is a great EDF, especially compared to others on the market...
Would like to hear from others flying this plane... With only 2 pages, I am guessing not to many of you purchased this plane...
    Thanks...
Pretty much what T-CAT said. There's a monster thread on the stinger 90 on RC Groups. I'm not sure if hobby squawk was in existence when the Stinger 90 1st came out. It was my 1st Freewing jet from Motion and I've been hopelessly addicted ever since. The Avanti flies a little better than the old S-90 and looks a lot better.

    • Has anyone flown it without the nose? It looks a bit F-86ish. Would probably be slower with extra battery cooling.

Lol! Or you can keep the nose on and get extra battery cooling. Page 64 post #1280 of this thread. It works great!

              • As a company, we at Motion RC do our best to keep orders on time and on schedule. However, there are times when things happen that are simply beyond our control. These can include the weather during the shipping from one country to another. The ship may be held up at a port. The docks may be behind and late unloading the containers. The container could be held in customs, and so the list goes on and on. For some reason or other, the latest containers have been held up somewhere. We are assured they will arrive shortly. However, I'm afraid I cannot give you an exact delivery date.

We would like everyone who is waiting for a preorder to arrive to please be patient and bear with us during this time frame. I can assure everyone as soon as the containers arrive the models will be shipped out.

Thanks for the information Martin. I am one of many who has ordered the plane. I too called about three weeks ago and got the it will be in next week response. Just a suggestion. While we are all anxious, it might be better to say that the shipment is on its way but Motion is not sure when the shipment is coming in so expectations are not raised.

                      • Okay guys, I got mine in the first batch. I now have about 40 flights on mine and love it. After reading reports of possible harness wing harness issues, I have kept and eye out for any problems. On about my tenth flight, I had a flap servo that would not retract all the way until you touched it. I decided with the reports of servo glitches I would go ahead and remove the control board and ribbon connector. Since I keep my Avanti assembled, I didn't mind doing the extensions. The only bummer was that I had to get a light module, from Motion, to properly operate the lights. Obviously the strobe effect is operated by the control module. So now I have been flying with without the board but was still having an intermittent problem with the one flap servo not going up all the way after landing. If you touch it, it would go up properly. No big deal for a while since it only seemed to happen after landing. Well we all know what happens next. On my second flight today I'm setting up for a landing, hit flaps, and the jet goes crazy as in a hard roll to the right. Luckily I hit the flap switch to bring them back up and the Avanti levels out. I go around and now line up on the runway and try again with the same result. Landing without flaps and no headwind is not fun, especially on our short runway. Thank goodness for the great landing gear the jet has as it rolled into the high grass at the end of the runway. So in my case, I would say the problem was a servo going bad. I have already replaced both and am thankful that both are mounted in the same way so a reverse servo is not needed. Back in the air tomorrow to see if the problem is solved. As a side note, I have had over a dozen Freewing aircraft and the only other servo that I have had a problem with was a flap servo on the Yak 130. It was intermittent from new. This is not a knock on Freewing or Motion, just wanted the forum readers to be aware of a possible problem. With the amount of servos that Freewing puts in all it's aircraft, there's bound to be a few lemons. I love this jet and the way it flies. I find myself not taking it out of my truck so that I can fly it the next day. If you really want some fun, on the upline, right before it runs out of speed, kick the rudder and watch it do a wingover, or just let it run out of airspeed and watch it stall and flip over backwards. Recovery is easy.

                        • I forgot to add a tip I think will work for those of us who have popped off our front landing gear doors and lost the spring. Besides getting two replacement kits, I have put a drop of hot glue on the part of the door that the spring slides onto. Hopefully this will keep it from flying off when the door pops off during a rough landing or gets in high grass.

                          • Last week was one of those weeks where nothing went right. A favorite sailplane of mine needed a new motor, finally got the replacement, went to fly and one of the props tore off before the hand toss...No idea what happened. Then I fly my A-10 and had the worst landing in years...Think a bucking bronco on crack. Yeah, that bad. Then my FW 70mm F-16 nose gear decides it doesn't feel like deploying so I had to belly land in a rough area...Broke a few parts along the way. Ugh. Thankfully I had the good sense to end the weekend flying the Avanti. Talk about worry-free, stress-free flying that gives your ego a boost. Just flying her around gives you the sense that you aren't such a bad pilot after all, lol.

Yanked and banked, loops, rolls, knife edge, invert, Immelmans, etc, etc...All too easy. Came in high approach, dead stick, dirty, and greased her in to perfection. Ahhhhhh, thank you Avanti for taking the bad taste out of my mouth from this past week.

Yeah it's a go to when you want to restore faith in the hobby... LOL

I forgot to add that I broke my Mobius when the Ascent prop broke off. With the vibration before I could throttle off the Mobius went flying onto the pavement. Toast. Eesh.

                                        • Hey guys, the wait is worth it. If the weather would cooperate out here, it would be even better. I manage t get on Avanti flight in each time I take it out then the wind comes up or the thunder and lightning roll in (as it is now) and it's time to pack up....but.........but...
The good news, at least of me, is that I am now having great success in my landings and I think I've sold a couple of these to the guys at the club. No one can believe how tough they are, but little demonstration of the compression struts convinces them..

Todd's right, nothing but stress free flying, and this is from a guy who has never flown a jet up until the Avanti. The trick is to raise the nose slightly before touch down, something you don't think about with tail draggers. Had an 'oh yeah' moment and a bunch of the guys at Nefi pointing it out and it finally sunk into the old guy brain !!
Had a head wind yesterday so was riding the throttle more than usual, at least so far. Flew 4 min on a 5000 and had 34% left after landing.
