Verrrry nice Dan. Maybe one day ill do something with mine. It was a balmy 27f here in North Carolina with no wind so to speak of(5-7)and the snow melting for a couple days. So i had to fly!!! Breeze straight down the runway NE. Only had a couple inchs a couple days ago but the temps have stayed below freezing.Dewey l

Same as some other flyers here I’m having a frustrating time with the blue box (control board). First, the brown, flap servo wire pulled out of the blue box followed a bit later by another wire from the aileron servo wire. Basically it’s toast as I really can’t trust any of the connections so I’ll connect the receiver directly and by pass the blue box. I’ll have to work out a way to get the light to work though. I’ve opened a ticket with Motion so we’ll see what they say.
I’m also stumped with how to connect the single aileron connection from the blue box. I’m using a Spektrum AR8000/ DX9 transmitter and I’ve I’ve programmed the system for dual ailerons ( and dual flaps) ....should it be programmed for single aileron?
Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, if you go through the blue box you need to be programmed for single flap and aileron. If you bypass the blue box you can use dual flap/aileron.Originally posted by Hiflyer45 View Postprogrammed the system for dual ailerons ( and dual flaps) ....should it be programmed for single aileron?

Just puttering around in the basement, got the missing underwing roundel today so I just finished applying it. I went around all the panel lines with a pencil and it looks great, its an easy fix for a little more realism. Will get into the underside gunsmoke etc on the weekend. I think I mentioned that I went a diversity receiver on her as well, not taking any chances with the old Spektrum I had in her.

I put a couple coats of Minwax polycrylic matte finish on my Spitfire and it looks absolutely wonderful and it has that dull look like the originals. I want to get ahold of some shark teeth Graphics to put on the nose. I think it will look good with the stock graphics. I might even paint the nose red too.Originally posted by OV10 View Post
The most prominently used paint and decal sealer/protector is the water based polyurethanes like Minwax Polycrylic

Ok guys, the final paint work done and decals installed today. I coated it with Minwax satin to seal the decals on and it turned the colors darker, so to use it as an advantage, I scumbled the paint on, leaving some areas flat and covering some to give it a worn look (distressed) The 'dirt' on the undersides was a very thinned out mix of black and nutmeg, applied with a bit of papertowel and dragged front to back. Keep in mind that these planes were flying from grass strips and it wasn't a particularly great Summer contrary to popular belief, hence the dirty undersides. I'll let her sit for a while and see what I think...

So I accidentally broke a plug on my flight line control board. I pulled the wire out of a Servo end. I tried whole crimping thing and that's an art and itself to master. I dont mind buying a new board since they are a few bucks, but they are out of stock and who knows when they get more in. My question is do I have to use that or will wire harnesses suffice for this war bird. Has anybody used the Y harness instead of the control board? I also would like to use that real estate for my receiver. I understand that my lights may not be usable but just want a temp fix to fly. Better yet maybe just run my landing gear and lights through it...... I pulled the wire out of my flaps plug

Love the 1600mm Spitfire, excellent control hardware and well put together. Had Callie do some graphics for me (the teeth from the Grey Nurse and the pin up from Foxy Lady along with Kill markings) and added some paint to the wing tips, tail and underside. Callie is spectacular and will custom do anything for very little cost. I used the same pin-up on 5 other warbirds, so she sized them and changed the color of the dress for me. That pin-up looks like my wife and that's the only one she would let me use as she flies also and everyone at the field knows her and that my warbirds are named after her (tried some naked pin ups Callie has but my wife caught me before I could install them). She is now making my pilot name decals for all my 15 planes in different sizes and colors. Love her work!!! Also included the Mr RC V4.1 Sound Card and it works great with some programming. I have 3 of these sound cards and all work great, but also have 3 of the Aspire cards and they are nothing but trouble-multiple bad volume knobs and blow out the TT-25's within 2 flights. Better sound, but they don't last and Andrew got tired of fixing and replacing them and the TT-25's. Only thing about the plane I don't like is the tail section as part of the aft fuselage. Break the tail and if you can separate the section from the fuselage, you can replace, but I epoxied it on!! I like to do multiple tail paintings and switch them from time to time, but not possible with this plane. Guess I'll have to be careful not to damage the tail, so no nose overs on landings. Searched for touch up paint and found RAF Ocean Grey & RAF Dark Green for the top and RAF Medium Sea Grey for the bottom (after trying about a dozen others close in color). Tried to post a review on this plane on the Motion product website but couldn't upload any pictures. Motion says it can't be done, but if you look, plenty of reviews have photos. Must be some way to do it.3 PhotosHugh "Wildman" Wiedman
