Happy Easter to all. The rabbit brought me a card that read, "Happy Egg-10". Translation: I have one in the queue thanks to my lovely and talented, and these are in stock. One happy pilot here.
Sierra Hotel for sure.

Welcome, RCCaptNickYG. I am new myself. Love the 'Peanut Scheme.' Hope you don't mind I am thinking of using that as well, but I thought I'd do a composite of a few of the great looking A-10's I've researched and build a personal. Congrats, looks good so far. I presume you've read all the great posts and have upgraded to the suggestions. Best, Elbee

Hello!! That’s Awesome!! I used BEHR Paints, and Bought a Thinning liquid from amazon to make paint usable in my Airbrush! Lol. The whole plane is Airbrushed! Somehow I lost the photos of the topside of the A10, BUT NICKYG123100 is my YouTube channel and I posted a video of it on there. Keep in touch you GUYZ!!
Okay, so this afternoon I swapped out the gear, both mains and nose. I certainly am no Steve (RC Jetdude) or George (Tirediron) but when I was done, I just didn't like the "feel" of the nose gear. To be clear, I didn't fly it yet, but just testing it on the ground, with the batteries in, I thought it felt way too squishy (I fly off paved asphalt). It seemed too willing to compress (now I see how it could easily hit the gear door) and it seemed to magnify the play in the entire assembly as it related to the trunion. BTW a friend of mine has an Avanti and he found an ingenius 3-D part that takes the lateral play out of the strut once it is deployed (see pic). Maybe someone here can design something for the A-10 to dampen the play?
My other thoughts for those who are yet to make the switch: 1) I tried to upgrade the set screws to DuBro for the mains, per our earlier discussions about cheap screws that strip out. However the aftermarket screws were slightly longer and after I had everything done, and went to bench test, I realized that the screws were protruding slightly and hit the metal plate above the retract when retracting, and wouldn't come in. The NG screws are opposing in front and rear of the strut, so those I upgraded with no problem. 2) the plastic covers for the mains are easier to remove than they look. There is a slight bead of Foam Tac around the edges. I used a dental tool with a flat blade and slipped it under the edge to break the seal and gently free up the cover. 3) the nose gear are a lot more troublesome to remove. I had to remove the screws to the retract while they were deployed, and then retract them to be able to remove it from the compartment, and then deploy it again to get to the set screw in the back of the strut. I had to do it twice as I decided to keep the original and found the easiest way to get the assembly out of the compartment was by removing the steering servo arm and then bringing all the linkage with the strut that way. I'm looking forward to testing everything out...hope this helps! Rob
Welcome elbee & Capt.NickyG. Bunch of GREAT guys(and gals) assembled here on the SQUAWK. Lots of info, and even a few Laughs. No Question's a Dumb Question(unless I ask it....LOL) Jim.
What he's talking about is that once he cut a length of bushing from the tube, he cut a slit in it lengthwise so that he could just "clip" it onto the strut instead of having to take the strut apart to slide it on.
Ah, got it. Perfect. I was dreading having to pop-off, then reinstall, that tiny E-clip.
I put my Hog up yesterday, for it's second flight. On the Maiden Flight, last weekend, I had a glitching aileron problem; so, I landed quickly, before getting the plane trimmed. Suspecting a bad solder joint in one of the circuit boards, I bypassed all three boards (central and wing interface) with a Tee harness and ran my ailerons directly into the RX (did the same with Rudder and Elevator, too). Even though I have the upgrade TL nose-gear strut, I did not install it. Anyway, the flight was good. I had to abort my first take-off run, because it was yawing too hard to the left and I was giving it full right rudder, just to keep it running straight. I was afraid that as soon as I rotated and lifted off that I'd have a bad rudder-induced roll; so, I aborted that take off. Realigned my nose wheel and took off again. My ailerons have too much throw, even on low-rates; so, I need to tone them down. Otherwise, the flight was good. And I greased the landing. Maybe it was dumb luck, but she settled in nicely for a non-bounce landing. I'll take 'lucky' any day. LOL
Hello, and Happy Easter. I am new to Hobby Squawk and I just ordered my 80mm A-10 today. I tried to read all the post from day one, but it's gonna be a minute before I actually catch up. But some of the ideas and paint jobs are truly inspiring.
THANKS FELLOW HOGG PILOTS!!
LOOKING FORWARD TO SHARING MY PLANES AND FLIGHTS WITH YALL!! *****NICKYG123100 is my Youtube if you want to check out my channel!! Grease them Landings!!
