  • I took the nacelles to Home Depot for a paint match. The top side of the nacelles look to be of the darker gray, and the bottom side is of the lighter gray. So, here's the patch match. It looks darn close, if not right on. I'll test areas with the new paint to see how well it matches when it's dry.

    • HD sells a reducer that thins and extends the drying time which eliminates brush marks (if you're brushing). Whatch'a painting, T-CAT?

      • That's good to know, thanks Tom!

I figured having some touch up paint just in case is a good idea to have around, especially for so cheap. I covered little portions of the plane like the Pave Penny Pod screw location that needs to be painted over to go unseen, and other little things like that, but will be using an airbrush. The second A-10 is getting a blue camo paint scheme and 90mm nacelles just for something fun and different than the first (the first one is the Blacksnakes paint scheme with weathering to be more realistic).

Take offs wont be an issue, but Im worried about setting it down soon enough to get it stopped after coming in over 8' tall corn now. Being this is my 1st EDF I am a bit nervous even though I have a couple 1700 and 1500mm warbirds (P51, and P47). Heres a little video of our field and me flying my Waco around. Woops, something wrong with YouTube links apparently
            Hi Thomas-
Best of luck with the maiden. I am sure you will do just fine, especially with flaps. 400 feet should plenty of room for this bird. What field do you fly from in the Indy area?

            • Ok finally got paint on my A-10 and started assembly. Got everything wired in the fuse and went to power up and set the rudder and elevator and nothing. No power. any thoughts ? Seems like everything is wired properly to the board and receiver.

              • Mike, you may want to test it by bypassing the board and just use a Y-harness from both elevator servos straight into the receiver.

                • Well looks like a bad BEC replaced it with a castle I had on hand and now I have power to the receiver. I need a break next step try it again trough the board. I'll get it figured out.

                  • Replacing the BEC did the trick. Now I can finish the set up and get ready to maiden this sucker.

Oh well crap happens. Life's little issues make it fun. These darn guys just opened the A4 pre-order ( like I need another EDF. Maybe the ARF + though got a 80 mm Jet Fan that needs a home. .

Thanks took a number of "liberties" with decal placement and paint but figured I'd keep the the scale police busy.

I would like to see a pic of the complete model...
I might just change my plans for painting #2...

                              • I keep putting off, putting on the nose art (shark)! I just have a feeling I'm going to screw it up!! You guys have any hints on doing it? It's not my first rodeo, but it looks like a lot of cutting to make it fit. Can I just keep putting water on it and move it around if needed?
Also if someone can throw up pics of all the missles and what graphics go where, would be appreciated!
I think this should be put into the manual. 3views helped a bunch though.

I did the same worried myself sick over it. Finally decided screw it I had some Micro-sol and Solva-set handy and used that to help get it to lay down. I highly recommend using them. I still have a one or two really minor wrinles I can live with.

I think I saw that stuff at my local hobby store? So no making relief cuts or anything?
                                    Thanks for the heads up.
