  • Interesting Pat. I wonder why they changed...

    • Is that a good thing that these are now water transfer? I have a new aircraft on pre-order with MotionRC. And will order the A-10 soon. Love this forum and will contribute when I become a bit more relevant to the conversation. Also, thinking of a 3D printer that even Tamms will use. I like the Prusa i3 MK3 in the kit form. Anyone else looking?

      • Hey Pat thanks for the front gear pics and the heads up about the bec! I have ordered the front gear because I fly off grass and it’s quite bumpy lol

Interesting that they did go strictly to water slides. I think the more intricate appliques (around a lot of different ridges, contours, lumps and bumps), peel and stick are a bit on the thick side and may not conform to such surfaces. The water slides tend to be much thinner and wrap around bumps and ridges better. Once laid and the water drawn out, that part of the decal seem to suck onto the surface on its own. A peel and stick don't always stick into hollows. But I'm sure the real reason is water slides are cheaper to make.

          • Hey xviper, I have to say the waterslides are my favorite and I agree about the peel and sticks being too thick ......also too shiney. Especially used with microset 1 and 2. It helps the waterslides conform to the surfaces even better. Check out some of the vids on the subject of micro set.

            • The transfer stickers are a lot easier to get right, but yes, waterslides clearly have advantages too

              • I like the water slides better too, for all the same reasons. I did have some trouble with them being "cloudy" at times...the star insignia on the wings was one example. But the ability to shrink them into the panel lines with Solvaset was a huge bonus. And my stickers that went on the tops of the vertical stab got real brittle when I sprayed them with dullcote. I eventually peeled them off, airbrushed the blue background, and then cut out and applied just the lightening bolts. Looks much better! Rob

Take the retract unit out, loosen the two grub screws in the strut, remove the old strut, install the new strut and tighten the grub screws. Install the unit back in and you're done! Others had talked about cutting the door or removing the white plastic door guide, but I got a lot of flights in on my first plane after installing the new TL nose gear and saw no issues.

I also added a shot of how I placed the rear antennas to look more scale.
Thank you Pat - this helps me a bunch!!
