I like using the Scorpion Backup Guard as my peace of mind for the more expensive birds.

Same here on the backup guard. I can recall using 600-800 ma packs for a receiver battery back in my old nitro days. 500 should be plenty as a backup. My YouTube Videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrz...4Q-xrOOtP2C-8w

Guys, sorry. I said transmitter battery. I added it just for weight because it was my first flight with 4000 packs and it was real windy. Can't lose a bird that's not here yet, right? Just me being a little cautious considering the situation and aiming for nose heavy..It wasn't plugged in. We fly stock.

Well, I just ordered the Freewing A 10 80mm . Its really too much for my budget, but hey, you only live once !
Am totally impressed with the service Motionrc provides and have purchased many warbirds and two stinger 90s from you guys - great stuff .
Also have a couple of spare 90s for the upgrade if I choose , but I'm sure those twin 80s are plenty powerful!

Doesn't the red wire from one of them get lifted? It has always been my understanding you weren't supposed to connect the output of two BEC's together.Originally posted by Twowingtj View PostI thought that you had said "transmitter" battery in the vid Ryan. I was just about to post that when your post popped up. If I'm not mistaken, both ESCs are supplying power to the system in parallel, so if that's the case, you already have a back-up source.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that rule of thumb refers to if two switching BEC's are used, but two linear BEC may be able to used simultaneously on a twin powered plane. Hopefully someone with extensive electrical knowledge can confirm and to describe in detail as to why that may be.Originally posted by RCjetdude View Post

In this jet, I thought the ESC's may be Opto and therefore not have an internal BEC. Instead it would have one large external BEC, but unsure. With the size of these servos, retracts, lights, etc., I would doubt an internal BEC of the rating the Hobbywing ESC's have could handle all of that safely.

I guess I'm the official welcomer for all the BC-ites, having been born and raised in Vancouver/Surrey before heading for God's country, Wyoming. Great to have your aboard.

My understanding on the scorpion is that it will simply supply backup power to the rx. Is that correct?Currently flying: Twin 80mm A-10, 80mm F5, 80mm A6, 70mm Yak-130, 70mm F-16v2,90mm Stinger 90, 70mmRC Lander F9F, Flightline F7F TigerCat, Phoenix 46 size Tucano, Flyzone L-39
Out of Service: 80mm Mig-21,64mm F-35, 64mm F/A-18
I Want: 80mm A-4, twin 80mm F4J Phantom

That is correct. You are supposed to turn on main power to the RX before turning on the backup. It kicks in if the voltage drops below the 5 v threshold.Originally posted by dahawk View PostMy understanding on the scorpion is that it will simply supply backup power to the rx. I asked Alpha the same question. I can't seem to find his response, but he said it was around 23"-24" across the rudder span.Originally posted by RCAV8R View PostHey guys...I have searched the thread and can't find the mention about the width/dimensions of the tail.
