Congrats Anthony! One fantastic maiden and a successful maiden smile to go with it. Headed out to our field late in the day( hot) for flights 18 & 19. Scott will maiden Avanti.
Getting a pair of RT 6250 35C's from Andy(rcjetwerx.com) to push the 5 min mark. Unlike some other edf's in my squadron, once airborne, I want to stay airborne for as long as I can with the A-10.
Cheers,

Anthony, beautiful job, and I really enjoyed your video! You're not, however, the last of the first group to maiden, as mine hasn't flown as yet (it's a long story....) Soon though.I just may be the last one in the "First Run" shipment to have maidened the A-10. I was hoping to be the first, but obviously that didn't work out. Here's the video:

Anyway, congrats!! :Cool::Cool:

Great job and nice flight. I really like this A-10! One of the greatest parts along with it's great flying characteristics is the presence it has on the ground. People always walk by and stare in awe. Freewing and MotionRC did a great job.Comment

Does anyone know where this part goes? It came off my A-10 after the "Bucking Bronco From Hell" landing last weekend and I have no clue... :Silly:

That's actually the part that lays against the nose strut and door. That's the piece that everyone says needs securing as it comes off too easily.Comment

As others have pondered, I think the soft and undampened main gear is part of the bouncing issue.( I've also removed 3 coils from the nose gear to soften it some). My A-10 is unflown as yet so take this with a grain of salt, but this is what I've done:
About 5 wraps of good electrical tape tightly wrapped around the spring (cleaned first with alcohol)- the spring is then a tight fit back into the channel of the strut and provides some dampening to the strut action. To stiffen things, I put a piece of inner tube patch rubber across the "horn" the spring hooks onto then wrapped it tightly with, again, about 5 wraps of tape. The rubber keeps the sharp shape of the horn from making it's way through the tape. The struts are now considerably stiffer and actually feel dampened- whether this lasts 1 flight or 20 remains to be seen but it'll be easy to renew the tape when required. If you want to take preemptive action to avoid the dreaded "bounce" this might be worth a shot.:Cool:

Just checked mine after 10 flights and it was still glued on, so I went ahead and put two tiny screws through it anyway before I lost it, one at the top and one on the bottom, can't hardly even see them.Comment

Grats Anthony. Nice maiden, great landing and good vid. I was in the first batch too and haven't maidened mine yet. Still got some work to do on it, hopefully completed this week. Grats again.I just may be the last one in the "First Run" shipment to have maidened the A-10. I was hoping to be the first, but obviously that didn't work out. Here's the video:
