Well, I am happy to report a successful maiden flight. Wooohooo!!! It was incredible. Balanced per manual, flight surfaces set per the manual throws (no low rates). Even at 16 lbs. it was airborne in 200 ft with take-off flaps and I quickly set about trimming. It only needed a slight bit of right aileron trim. Trims in Flight Modes 1 and 2 were also spot on. It felt so good I made a couple gun runs and then set up for a landing. The plane floated and penetrated much more than I dreamed it would so it took me three attempts to get it on the ground but it went smoothly. I am sooo stoked!! This thing flies very well even at 16 lbs. I will provide more detail later.

Well....

my maiden take off went well

my maiden landing.... not so well.

Ended up coming in too hot and bounced it up after the intial touch.

The downside of the bounce got the. Ode gear and nose.

Everything is repairable and while in the air air flew amazing

I did the same thing on my second flight, I think I may have been pulling up elevator by habit (tail draggers), I tell you this...she's a tough bird, she was hitting hard and took it very well.

I screwed up and put the small stars and bars on the wing now I have the bigger ones left for the fuselage. This bothers me greatly, stupid OCD. I'm wondering if I can put the bigger decals over the smaller ones on the wing and then order a new decal set so I can get the smaller ones for the fuselage. Anybody have any thoughts on putting a decal over a decal?

Are you able to soften the decal and lift it intact?

I'm not sure, the decal has been dried to the wing for several hours at this point. I suppose since the small one and the big ones have see-through areas it would look pretty stupid putting one on top of the others and that's not going to work.

The big one on the side of the fuselage doesn't look too bad but I may just order another set of decals I can get the two small ones for it.

I will lift a corner and paint under the decal with water to gently work it off. Re-applying is is another story. Really thin Elmers glue dries clear and could possibly be used to set the decal in the proper place. Just a thought.

Can anyone from Motion tell me if the servos and control board are 6.6V tolerant? I saw that the BEC was 5V output. I was doing some bench testing and unconsciously reached for the 6.6V LiFe battery instead of one of my 6S packs or an old 4.8V nicad. Everything seems to be OK after the fact, except for my NG landing light. There is no voltage at the control board pins when the gear is cycled. I plugged the landing light into one of the strobe outputs of the control board and you could dance to it if the mood strikes so I know it ain't the light or the wiring to the light and I know the strobe outputs are OK. I gots plenty of ways around the issue, I am sure (to get power to the light). I just want to make sure I didn't just void my warranty. I didn't see any warnings or specs in the manual for power handling, unless I just blew by them.

Soak it good and get under a corner with a xacto blade or tweezers then brush some water or setting solution under it as you lift. It should come off without damaging the paint.

Thanks for the advice on the decal removal. I wet the decal that was on the wing with a cotton ball and let it sit for a minute. As suggested I used the sharp end of an X-Acto blade and very carefully lifted it off of the airframe. It did not damage the paint in anyway. I put this decal back in the water momentarily while I put the correct size decal on the wing. Once the decal was on the wing I put the smaller one on the backing paper that the large one was on. I was able to get the smaller one on the side of the fuselage where it belonged.

That worked like a charm on both sides, now my A-10 looks like it should and I'm very happy.

Since these decals are going to all be dry very shortly should I still brush over them with a setting solution or do something else to make sure that they stay on the airplane?

The one you reapplied may not be stuck the greatest if the adhesive was thin. I am no decal expert so I am not sure if the setting solution will be enough.

I have been using Microscale Decal solutions on all my painted plastic static models and it works great softening and conforming over any recessed and raised area. I have not tried it on a foam plane yet, but I will try since it's over a painted surface.
Ordered Hog yesterday, will watch maidens and flights here until arrival.
