The receiver I am running looks exactly like a Spektrum AR9020 with two satelite antenaes but I paid $50 for it new. I have been flying them for years and not had a single issue. Anything DSMX compatible should be fine. Many swear by the Lemon brand of receivers but I have never tried one myself.

Pretty much in the same boat. Have a few AR636 Sport Receivers laying around. Would this be sufficient for the plane, or do I need one with a satellite receiver? Technology has changed so much over the last 14 years, and I am still learning the do's and don'ts of the electric planes...lol.Originally posted by Kurtzz View PostI plan on using my trusty Spektrum DX8 for this bird, but I'm going to have to pick up a new receiver. Not a fan of the clone Spekrtum style receivers, especially on a plane of this standing, and not really worried about telemetry either. Would any full range 6 channel or better Spektrum receiver fit the bill? Thanks in advance.

Should work fine. I fly the 636 in a bunch of different planes and they work fine. You only need 6 channels if you are just going to fly it stock.Originally posted by rlcamden View Post

I had my short stint with Oranges too. Couldn't figure out for the longest time why my planes were going down and out of my control. Yep, it was the receivers. Changed back over the Spectrum and no problems ever since. I'm a little bit nervous about other cheaper brands because of my "Orange" experience. They seemed to be more prone to interferences...IMO.Originally posted by TSHobbies View Postyes, thats all I have are Lemons...well, besides the Spektrum that came with the Prometheus, but yup..all Lemons...had some Oranges that quit once, ...still waiting on Apples and Grapes to try those out too

Don't let your bad exposure to Orange taint your opinion or judgement on saving money.Originally posted by Sky Wolf View Post

Lemons are VERY RELIABLE and once I got that skepticism of not using Spektrum out of my head it has been a bounty of saved dollars to apply to more airframes.
I converted over more than 2 years ago whereas half my fleet is using Lemon
I'll stick a $30 ten channel Lemon in a $500 bird without hesitation, that is what is going into my A-10 ;)Warbird Charlie

With you Sky,
i have over 10 lemons, some with stabalizer. At least 3 of them are completely dead and won't bind or even flash . Lost faith for the most part and am back to Spektrum in my high value planes. Figure if something goes wrong, I can't blame it on a cheapie rx.
Just bought their new " pro" combo for use in a 70mm F16 v2. We'll see.
I'm convinced Orange Rx's and Spektrum Tx's don't get along. Had issues and was blaming them on a presumed 'Bermuda Triangle' at our field.
Oh well, whatever works? Stay with it.Currently flying: Twin 80mm A-10, 80mm F5, 80mm A6, 70mm Yak-130, 70mm F-16v2,90mm Stinger 90, 70mmRC Lander F9F, Flightline F7F TigerCat, Phoenix 46 size Tucano, Flyzone L-39
Out of Service: 80mm Mig-21,64mm F-35, 64mm F/A-18
I Want: 80mm A-4, twin 80mm F4J Phantom

OV-10, I didn't realize I came across as "judging". Sorry if I offended any LEMON users out there. May give LEMON a shot one day...in a plane I won't mind taking a chance with. (Not a judgment, just cautious)Originally posted by OV10 View Post

Dave, I guess you and I got the bad batch of ORANGE receivers at the same time. Once I lost my 3rd plane I gave up on them. They were all flashing when I approached the crash sites. I was really hard on myself, thinking that I was turning into a really bad pilot somehow, until I realized it was the receivers and not me. Not one crash since then...at least not because of the receiver. LOLOriginally posted by dahawk View PostWith you Sky,

Haven't heard anything negative about the LEMONS yet though. Just didn't want to take anymore chances. If guys are confidently sticking them in their A-10's then they must be pretty reliable so far.
Maybe in the future!
