Looking forward to seeing you there. I'll have the 90mm FW F-16 and hopefully the FW A-10. Callie Graphics will be doing my graphics for me once I measure the A-10. I should be better by then. I won't be able to show up till Saturday though.

            • I need to choose a receiver for this bird. I have a AR610 an a brand new AR8000 on the bench. I'm inclined to run the AR8000 due to the satellite, but are there any downsides to running the AR610? I will not need the extra channels initially.

              Thanks in advance.

              • So excited to have received mine yesterday! The finish is quite nice, and I am hard-pressed to notice any significant foamy gaps, crevices, etc.!
Next rain and it will be worked on, but after a brief visit, other than the battery compartments,
Where are you guys placing your RX and or GYRO???

Get to feeling better soon Tim. Always something.

Mine was supposed to be delivered today. Got an e-mail at 06:00 saying "out for delivery". Got another e-mail at 18:00 saying " We miss-sorted and we sent it to another town. Now scheduled for delivery on Monday".

                  • The weapons set is pretty cool... couple of bombs, couple of missiles, some other doodads... and they are interchangeable with those neat plug-in mounts. So I was thinking, I should order an extra set of ordnance so that I can play around with the load-out, for example use 4 bombs or 4 Mavericks, instead of two of each. Guess what, the ordinance parts set costs NINETY dollars! Holy cow! That seems a little steep to me! I mean the entire replacement fuselage is $90.

                    • Hi I'm new to this forum and I just received my A-10 and was wondering what kind of glue you guys are using to glue the fuselage together? Would the glue that came with the model be good enough? And are you putting glue on spars and mounting surface or just the mounting surface ?

The A-10's CG is 78mm, measured back from the leading edge of the wing root. For convenience's sake, this CG is measured with the aircraft upright, with the landing gear down (because it's too difficult to pick up the plane and measure it inverted gear up). Whether the aircraft is fully loaded or empty, the CG doesn't shift more than 1-2mm forward, which is within the margin of error for the plane (depending on how much glue the customer uses to affix the rear fuselage, which is the only glue joint). We can state a range of 75mm-83mm, if people want a range. Down elevator is mixed with flaps. 2mm down for first position, and 3mm for second position.

The glue that comes with the plane is fine but many of us prefer Foam-Tac, which you can get from Motion. Motion has a good assembly video that should answer all your questions. There are very few areas that require glue. Most of the assembly is with screws. Here's the video:

                            • Well, I am happy to report a successful maiden flight. Wooohooo!!! It was incredible. Balanced per manual, flight surfaces set per the manual throws (no low rates). Even at 16 lbs. it was airborne in 200 ft with take-off flaps and I quickly set about trimming. It only needed a slight bit of right aileron trim. Trims in Flight Modes 1 and 2 were also spot on. It felt so good I made a couple gun runs and then set up for a landing. The plane floated and penetrated much more than I dreamed it would so it took me three attempts to get it on the ground but it went smoothly. I am sooo stoked!! This thing flies very well even at 16 lbs. I will provide more detail later.

                              • Mine is on the table and I'm starting to apply the decals before I build. I was kind of surprised that half the decals are waterslide and the rest are vinyl stick on.

                                • Is anyone going to put a decal setting solution on the water slides? If you are can you tell me what brand you'll be using? I don't want to damage the foam.

                                    • Congrats! Thanks for sharing your secrets in your A-10 mod thread. I hope to maiden mine this afternoon. I've managed to make it work so the nose gear door stays open when it's supposed to but the two solutions I've tried so far aren't quite refined yet. Right now, using the freewing sequencer, I can either have the gear all retract simultaneously but with no landing light, or they can sequence slightly out of sync but with an operable landing light. I'll mess around with it some more at a later date.

                                      • Well....

my maiden take off went well
                                        my maiden flight when well

my maiden landing.... not so well.

Ended up coming in too hot and bounced it up after the intial touch.

The downside of the bounce got the. Ode gear and nose.

Everything is repairable and while in the air air flew amazing

                                        sigh

No kidding for foam ordinance.yikes. I purchased the triple bomb rack for the FW A-6 and will add that to A-10 set.
