I know a lot a variables at play in this question but with full flaps, you say it slows quickly so to keep speed up - how much throttle are you using on final assuming 0 to very light headwind? 10% 20% and do you have a little elevator mix with your flaps?Originally posted by Aros.MotionRC View PostNo flaps are needed on take off. The roll is literally 15 feet or less without flaps...As for landing I always go full because I love the profile of a Corsair on approach with full flaps, gear doors, the works. She slows down fantastic with full flaps.

I am usually around 20% throttle on a full dirty approach with light to no winds. This model does not need an elevator mix with the flaps.Originally posted by Grover54 View PostI know a lot a variables at play in this question but with full flaps, you say it slows quickly so to keep speed up - how much throttle are you using on final assuming 0 to very light headwind? 10% 20% and do you have a little elevator mix with your flaps?

I found an interesting bit of information about the Corsair's "Gull" wing. I read that it's design actually helped to control or minimize issues with compressibility on high speed dives. You still had to watch the speed but it wouldn't sneak up on you like the P38 Lightning. ;) I love finding these little bits and nits.

Another cool thing about the reverse gull wing was that, because the wings came into the fuselage at more of a perpendicular angle, it did not need big wing fillets like so many other W W II fighters. This greatly increased the wing's efficiency and may explain why the Corsair was the first fighter to break 400mph.Originally posted by Grover54 View PostI found an interesting bit of information about the Corsair's "Gull" wing. If you are interested in the developmental history of the Corsair, I can't recommend this book enough -- "Whistling Death" by the Corsair's primary test pilot, Boone Guyton. Really well-written (not all pilot memoirs are), and I learned a ton of things I didn't know. I found my copy in a local used book store -- and to top it all off, mine was autographed by the late Mr. Guyton (and dedicated to another former Corsair pilot, the books original owner)! Guyton flew Corsairs from the very first XF4U-1 prototype through the end of the war and beyond.I found an interesting bit of information about the Corsair's "Gull" wing. Yes! A must read for any student of the Corsair. My copy doesn't have any cool signatures in it though...:(Originally posted by MrSmoothie View Post

OK, everything I've read from all of you regarding the Flight Line F4U Corsair is somehow FORCING me to consider buying one. Is it really that outstanding? The Corsair is my favorite WWII plane and when I saw it announced, I almost had a heart attack-how do I explain to the wife that I'm buying another damn plane. I went over the deep end last year and bought 9 planes, the 1600mm Spitfire, both the camo and silver B-24, the F4 Camo and another F4 I turned into a Blue Angel, and 4 Extreme Flight planes; 60" Slick, 62" MXS Heavy Metal and Green version, and the 62" Demonstrator. So this year I vowed to (as another Squawker so aptly stated) "buy less & fly more". Then the Corsair came out, damn you Flight Line. I have 2 FMS corsairs (one pictured below), but I know the quality is not up to Flight Line and they sort of fly like bricks! A Flight Line Corsair I'm sure would be Sweeeeeeeet!
All my warbirds and even my Bi-Planes have the Mr. RC sound system in them and for me this one would also, but from the pictures I've seen, it looks like it might be a difficult fit. I'm sure a lot of you have installed it, so is there enough room and any pictures of where you put them would be appreciated.
OK, let's be honest, I've already decided to buy one, in fact the receiver is on it's way, the Aspire sound system has already shipped out and Callie is already working on the graphics that I want to use. I just haven't hit the Buy Now on the plane yet. First I need to finalize the bank heist plans and figure out how to tell the wife-just a thought, I could tell her that I spend so much on planes and parts that Motion is sending me a free sample to test for them.
What I'm really worried about is that I'm sure Flight Line and MRC are working on there next new release, and I've turned into an addict. Is there such a thing as MRC Anonymous?

"How many airplanes do you need?"
Just one more!
"How many planes is enough?"
That's a stupid question. I can't count that high.

Welcome to The Addiction! Step right up, don't worry your last plane is your last fix. Until the next of course! LOL LOL
My situation is pretty cut-and-dry. I have limited garage (hangar) space so I can physically only have so many planes at once. A terrible quandary for sure! However, it keeps the wife at bay so once I reach my threshold and just have to have that new shiny model, I have to sell one or more to make room. Plus selling models are the funds I use to buy the new latest and greatest (Corsair, F-22, F-4, etc)...I simply keep the ones that are closest to my heart. I really need to play the lottery more, lolMy YouTube RC videos:

If the F4U is your FAV - trust me - you will not be disappointed with this bird. FL and MRC hit the ball out of the park on this one. The quality, finish and detail is well worth the money. I commented in an earlier post that though $399 and now the $459 is not cheap, when you take her out of the box you'll immediately see it leaves other planes and MFGs (in it's class) in the dust. If you go to this forum's first post by TiredIronGRB you'll see what we're all talking about and if TI doesn't object let me add his YTube video to get a even closer look if you're still undecided.Originally posted by Hugh Wiedman View PostOK, everything I've read from all of you regarding the Flight Line F4U Corsair is somehow FORCING me to consider buying one.
