He is referring to a Realflight model I modified to practice on the simulator. Not the real model. The real model is probably more forgiving than the simulator.

Had (operative word due to inferno) one of those in a VQ version. A little full flaps presentation pass for the cameraman;)

          • Don't know if anyone else noticed this in Callie's decals for certain liveries that include the "tape" that covers the seams of the tank ahead of the canopy but I was finally getting around to looking at the decals and noticed this oddity. The tank seam is round and is fairly accurately depicted in the foam including rivets. However , the part of the decal that would represent this area is octagonal and quite a bit smaller in diameter than the round tank seam. I mentioned it to Callie and sent her this picture of that area with a tape measure stretched across the tank. She, of coarse, is going to correct and replace that part of the decal set. I'm sharing this more as a testimonial to Callie and her readiness to correct glitches in her graphics than getting my panty hose in a big wad.LOL Anyway, I'm guessing that anyone contemplating getting her decals that include this "tape" will get the benefit of this correction. Click image for larger version Name:	P_20190402_202158.jpg Views:	0 Size:	41.7 KB ID:	188245

Actually, I have the same experience with Callie. When ever I have a question or find something a bit irregular or a little off scale like a Roundel-Star she either explains why or corrects it but always makes it right. Callie values all feed back because it helps them deliver the best stuff in the business.:Cool:

                • Isn't it because the tape was medical tape that the ground crews had scrounged. The tape was quite wide and they taped over the leaks on the turtle deck from the fuel and oil. As the tape was wide the ground crews could not do tight radius corners hence the octagonal shape over the round hatch. Maybe Callie was correct

I read that somewhere as well.

                      • Now ya' tell me!LOLIn any case, the radius was too small for the tank opening.:Not-Talking:Medical TapeLOLHa! As it turns out, Ira Kepford's Corsair didn't even have the tape over that round hatch.:Confused:Just the other panel line seams in front of the windscreen.

                        • How many are taping over the gun ports? After all they did it during service to reduce drag.

                            • actually, the powder was corrosive, and the primers contained mercury. so every time a gun was fired it had to be cleaned, and the surface of the aluminum plane had to be whipped down (mercury is death to aluminum). so the taped over gun ports signaled to the ground crew the guns were serviced, had been cleaned and reloaded, also the surrounding aircraft surfaces had been cleaned (that included the brass exit chutes).

                              • Has anyone had a aileron servo cycle and go full lock to one side? I was just assembling my Flightline F4U (Birdcage). Plugged everything up, checking polarity. Then bound the receiver and bango it goes to full lock. Unplugged it from the little board in the wing and checked it with a servo tester. Again straight to full lock as soon as the battery was connected? Bum servo?

A servo tester has a neutral setting. Did you have it on that position and if so, did it still go to full lock? Can you manually move it off full lock?

Sounds like a broken wire or at least defective servo. MRC will replace it no problems. I had a glitchy servo and they sent me a new one.

                                      • There are at least 5 failure points that can drive a servo to full lock at end of travel stop with no response to trying to move it with the TX stick. 1 in the TX (not that, since it does it with the servo tester)

The others I can think of off hand would be a bad wire to the position sensing pot, bad pot, damaged gears (snap off the piece that connects pot to output gear) and a bad comparator circuit chip.

There was an issue with a series of Hitech servos that turned out to be people using the wrong screw to hold the servo arm on. The excess length was damaging the position sensor pots.
