Official Freewing 80mm EDF L-39 Albatros Thread

Hi Guys,
Just in case anyone else has to replace one of the elevator servos, this is some of my notes based on my experience.
1] remove the vertical fin 4 screws
2] remove the horizonal stub 4 screws
3 unplug both elevator servo plugs
4] pull out servos leads with horizontal stub
5] the servo is mounted in the pocket with silicone glue.
6] use an xacto knife to cut the glue around the edges of the servo
7] I used my spudger tool to clean the glue without hurting the foam
8] use needle nosed pliers to lift out the servo with the pliers (see photo)
9] please note: the servo lead is 30" and not what the L39 product page says.
10] reverse the process to install the new servo. Use silicone glue to mount the new servo and feed the lead into the foam channel and route it back through the stub opening.

my l39 has been flying fine until yesterday when I dropped the flaps to full the nose went up about 45 degrees... never did that before so checked the flap to elevator mix and reduced it quit a bit...it worked at that setting well until now one of those things that make u go hummmmm!!!

The real advantage the L-39 has, in my opinion, is the undercarriage as Evan D pointed out. The L-39 has larger and stronger undercarriage, and it still has a respectably slow and controllable approach speed, so all that suspension is just extra insurance. My F-86 had a tendency to hop if I didn't pin her down correctly. The L-39 tends to soak up my bad landings better, and its wheels are larger which is always an advantage of plowing through grass or riverbed or whatever I can fly off of here.
Just maidened mine today and it was rock solid from the get go! I immediately felt comfortable with this plane as opposed to other EDF's I have flown. I have the Admiral 6ch Rx with gyro and where I fly it seems to be always windy and she handled the wind like it wasn't there.
Yup! My F-86 did the bunny hop a few weeks ago and luckily she came out unscathed (whew)!
