Yep, that's an "ahem* lively discussion on RC Groups, and the reason why I stopped visiting that thread.

Hey Hammer007, welcome to the Squawk, a huge demand for this plane as you can see by the size of this thread and the plane hasn't even been released.
It is/was the same for the Avanti, and if you look at the pictures Alpha posted regarding that plane, you realize the size of the scale of production, simply amazing!!
That could be the problem with online shopping, we don't realize how many others are in line waiting for the same product. Picture the Apple stores just before the release of the new i phone, one store is lined up for blocks and they have stores nation wide.
I'm just glad that the guys at Motion don't do what alot of other companies do, supply and demand pricing, the price could have been much higher at first just due to that.
I don't mind waiting for a great plane at a great price. I know we all have plans for this plane once it's in our hot little hands, but reality has to kick in. If you were lucky to get into the first preorder, great, if you are on the second one, the guys in the first will solve and correct all the bugs on there's so you won't have to!

Not everyone will be happy, some have there point over there, I don't agree with the bait and switch thought mentioned. Communication from motion rc should have been better, especially taking money for preodrder. I have followed this plane and threads and motion rc has a very good reputation. That being said and this is not a dish against motion rc, but when you have a preorder and take customers money and 4 days it's sold out for a shipment, customers who have paid should know that they didn't make the first group with in a couple days, not a week before it's due in, because everyone is expecting delivery when it hits shores.
just better communication earlier would have gone a long way.
if you go out and order a dream car and given an approximate delivery date and a week before your told it won't be coming for at least another month or longer, most people would be upset, because you were counting on having it, but if they kept timely communication with the customer, it wouldn't have created disappointment. Some don't care, but many do and that is a huge part of customer service which lacks prevelently in this industry, which for the most part doesn't reflect on motion rc, which has a good reputation, now if they sold brands I wanted, I'd be a loyal customer for life, because I base my purchases on customer service more than price.

So I am anxiously awaiting my preorder too, but did I overlook the fact that there are no gear-door bay covers?

Why does it appear so much up elevator trim is needed? All the ground pics look like the elevator is the 35 degrees as do the in flight pics. PLEASE address this and show a pic of where you have it set for level flight. Thanks. I'm worried about this.

It could be an illusion. Just want to verify and confirm there are no mixers from throttle to elevator.

35 degrees is a bit of an exaggeration, as this isn't a 3D plane. :) But seriously, if you look at the Flight Review video and stop it at 1:54, you can see the elevator is lined up perfectly with the part that fits into the vertical stab (don't know what it's called). So I see what you mean, but I think it's an illusion. And if you've watched all the flight videos of the A-10, it looks to be one of the most honest EDFs out there. I expect it to be about as easy to fly as my DH-112 Venom V2.

It could be due to the fact that the outer ends of the elevator are beveled about 45 degrees thus lending to that appearance but honestly I am not seeing what you are talking about. Can you provide a picture showing what you are seeing?

Must be an illusion due to the bevels in the elevator. Also the size of the plane allows Mike to get under the plane so to speak.

There are are no throttle to elevator mixes. The plane has had serious attention to the incedence and thrust relationships during the design phase. Good job all around.

Only mix is flap to elevator as called out in the manual.

I tell you what guys, I have the FMS version and that thing glides awesome when you cut the power and is very predictable. I feel the Freewing 80mm is going to be awesome. As far as the elevator trim just get it adjusted in flight and then mark where it is for level flight and then center your trim and adjust it manually to that setting mark.

I apologize if this was mentioned earlier. I was cruising the A-10 MRC page and under the "Upgrades" tab is the MrRCSound Smoke System. Looks like it puts out a decent amount of vapor. I don't mind paying the price for a turn-key solution either. The question will be of course, is the fan strong enough to overcome the incoming rush of air since the tube will be pointed forward? The vapor doesn't have to actually shoot out in front of the plane; only exit the tube to get the desired effect.

Yea, I only saw a few pics of preproduction showing the gear, and didn't think much of the fact that the gears doors were absent, as it was still preproduction, especially after seeing the FMS version. It really didn't register in my brain. My bad for thinking they would be similar. I really did not notice it until the build video was released, and I said "hmmm, they excluded the gear doors for sure". Not to start a flame war or anything, I am still quite excited for it, but a minor disappointment which a few cents of plastic could have cured.
                                  Cheers, DSA

I can say that if there's any obvious scale deficiency in a model we are working on with Freewing that there is a good reason for it. I cannot personally explain what each and every reason is, but trust me when I say there's a reason for it. Nobody I know cares more for scale authenticity as Alpha does, and 100% of the time if something is missing, there's a reason for it whether it's cost, drag considerations or a thousand other reasons we can't even think of.

I wish you guys could all be flies on a wall, listening to our conversations during the R&D phase. You would quickly understand how much we want these models to be the best possible versions of themselves but alas, concessions must be made to meet the various criteria necessary to make these viable product for the masses.

The missing main doors were covered early on. Not sure if it was here on RCG but they were omitted to avoid having them hit by the wheels with the trailing link struts. Not to mention getting torn off on grass field ops.
I'll take the great suspension and live without the doors myself. Once the gear is retracted you don't really notice their absence.
