I'll take the great suspension and live without the doors myself. Once the gear is retracted you don't really notice their absence.
I'm picking up what you're laying down. As for the nose gear door, I know on the full scale A-10, that door stays open until the retract cycle. What I might try to do is use the FW F-16 circuit board for the nose gear and door. I have a spare. Also the A-10's no longer have the pod on the right side hanging down. I'll be cutting that off. Then again, kit bashing is fun.

No need to hack that off........Cap'n Mike in his build video attaches it to the fuse with a 6mm screw ;)

I meant the pod, not the whole thing. The A-10C no longer uses the Pod. My latest FMS build and graphics for the 107th FS Selfridge which I'll use on the FW when it gets here. This is the Brig. Generals B1RD.

          • Hey Aros,
Is there any way to find out the FS # of the color gray used in the production of the Hog? I'd like to start looking at the shades around it to think about how to highlight panel lines, etc.. Can't wait for the build video by Alpha on how he recommends doing it on a production plane, as opposed to the prototype (white). Rob

                      • Since it's getting close to the A-10 arrival can someone share some tips and pointers for water slide decals? I know the nose decal is two pieces (a right and left) so I'm looking for advice on getting them on and in the right place.

I think I've seen posts somewhere that say to soak them in soapy water (instead of clean water) but I don't know why.

A quick goggle search nets a ton of info on this. Taking your time is key.

                          • I found a bunch of stuff but it seems more geared toward plastic models. If it's the same with a foam plane then cool, just wanted to be sure there aren't any gotchas with the foam.

This video seems pretty good, I've watched it a few times now.

                            • Alpha made a good video of the FlightLine P-38 build, and in there is covers some details about water slide decals and application.

                              • I have used a Model Masters decal setting solution that worked well but they are not that hard to apply.

                                • Unless I missed something in the video the only water slide decals that video shows are the two NO STEP decals on the canopy. The water used looks clear and I didn't see any use of a decal setting solution. I assume the water temperature doesn't matter, I figure room temperature is what I'll use.

This probably seems like a simple thing but for those of use that haven't done it we don't want to screw up on a $549 model. :)
