I drilled and tapped all the holes for the vertical horizontal and nacelle for 40-40 and used Duro socket head bolts to secure them. Everything else just opened the holes and used Dubro part #527 button hard sheet screws to secure the parts on.Originally posted by sam51401 View PostIm looking to disassemble the jet to allow painting and like to replace the stock screws as some of the heads maybe be somewhat stripped and not able to reinstall securely on the second round. What size in standard dubro stock would be a good replacement for the PA3X8 screws. Like to even go with socket head screws instead of phillips?
So the vertical stabs, horizontal stab and maybe the nacelles which use 3x12

Totally banned, posts deleted, nothing left but jet wash.... I missed it all, oh well.
I'm taking my Hog (and Tigercat) to Dayton for the D.O.G.S. show at the USAF museum tomorrow. The show is open to any AMA pilot, fly what you bring. The museum will be open after-hours just for registered pilots - the whole museum all to ourselves, and my understanding is that we'll also have access to the planes. (maybe) So I am really looking forward to that - I'm going to see if I can get into the B36 for a selfie in the cockpit!Marc flies FW & FL: AL37, MiG-29, T45,F4, A4, A10, F104 70 and 90, P38, Dauntless SBD, Corsair, B17, B24, B26 & P61, Lipp.P19, ME262, Komets, Vampire, SeaVixen, FMS Tigercat, FOX Glider & Radian XL.

Guys, I hate to see anyone have to get banned from the forum but when a person is out of line by insulting others and acting rude with no remorse when asked to cool it their true colors will get them banned. That type of behavior has no place here. Don't be too concerned over missing the drama. What's done is done. Its over.

Hi everyone still new to posting videos and making them but I finally got to maiden my A-10 Thunderbolt on Aug 13th at my clubs scale contest. I have one of the first runs of A-10's since they came out and it took me this long to fly it. This will happen when you have a 7 month old and get to work on things when she is sleeping and before you go to bed before you have to get for work. I took two GoPro videos of my flights and have them posted on YouTube. The winds were about 5-8MPH and changing direction all day. The maiden went well and landing was smooth. 2nd flight was good except the landing didn't go as planned. It bounced back into the air and I tried to give full throttle to go around but was just to slow so had to try and land due running out of runway. When it landed it bit hard and it turned 90 to right then 180 to the left as you will see in the video. This is one tough plane only minor damaged occurred to ordnance and landing gear. I did manage to take home first place in our scale contest.

Thats a great idea on using the 4-40 screws. Using the size slightly smaller than the 3mm dia screws in that you used #4 Std screw size has me curious. I could not find any direct comparison of size but i think i finally found on Dubros' website a chart that list American Std and Metric in decimal sizes. I think the 3mm is .118 but the Std #4 is slightly smaller at .112 but if i am interperting the chart right, the next size up from 3mm would be a Std #5 at .125 hole size. Now these are the BODY dia of the screw and NOT the outside of the threads.Originally posted by MikeT View Post

So if one of these 3mm screws gets pulled out, a Std #5 would be the next size up to use i guess. Any reason you used the Std #4 screws?

Great flight, landed a little hot, but it taxied back. Yup will need to replace the wing tip pitot tube if that broke off or just a little shorter by pulling out what was left and sticking the rest of it back in the hole.Originally posted by Ironfrog25 View PostHi everyone still new to posting videos and making them but I finally got to maiden my A-10 Thunderbolt on Aug 13th at my clubs scale contest. Went fine, as I used the original two wires to the lights I had and soldered them to the new lights then added a separate battery to operate them. Would have like to have used the three wire to be able to turn on and off from the radio, but then I have to slice through all the tape and invasion stripes and feed the wire to do so. This was a very simple fix. ThanksOriginally posted by RCjetdude View PostThere you go Tim. Turned out great. Did the installation go smoothly?

As far as glassing ... I am no expert but on the GWS A-10 they said it added 2 or 3 ounces with half ounce cloth and poly. So .5 ounce per square foot on this with paint will add at least a pound.
Guys using big batteries and heavy mods are over by 2 0r 3 pounds so even if it added 2 pounds they say it dident affect the flite so much. Besides....someone has to be the first !
I don't think you need to do the bottom unless you plan to fly and park it inverted.
Baked Ham for the holidays.

I dont have have any scales that will weigh this bird, but was wondering what the stock setup with two Admiral 5000's will tip in at? It feels pretty heavy for its size and construction, but flies so light on the wing, does a pretty good snap roll on stock settings when told to. I wonder how well it spins both upright and inverted? Might find out tomorrow!

My nose steering pins are the board stopped working all of a sudden as they aren't receiving power. So, I had to connect the the servo straight to the RX and program via radio. It's the luck of the draw sometimes with these boards. I have two A-10's and one has all aspects functioning at the board, while the other has some corky stuff going on. I have only the absolute necessary parts now attached to the board, such as the gear, ailerons, flaps, and lights. All other things are harnessed and going directly into the RX.

About 13lbs. 3ozs. stock with 2 Admiral 5000's. My Euro Green Cool Cat flies at over 16lbs.
