Had I read somewhere that the main wheel axles were 5mm on this bird or am I confusing them with the strut pins? Michael, are the main wheel axles 5mm or 4mm?

Awesome pics of the production model... and very good plattform to start your own finishing touches...want to do my own aproach to panneling and wheatering... the idea of the optional ladder is a great option too, as well the colored " remove before flight " isnpection flags.. but just let me say that love do aerial vids with my Mobius Cam, so one of the ordnance pads moddified from factory if possible and as future option too to fit Mobius one or two will be a great option too... best regards and counting the days for the arrival...

Hey Kloverzero, here's a question. I've noticed in your pictures the little "steam vent flowers" on many of the surfaces and they bug me, especially in high vis areas. They also get in the way of decals sometimes and I'm wondering if it is practical to sand those off flush and touch them up with matched paint. Or does that "open the cells"? I also noticed that the "flowers" on the flaps were actually inset, Was that done to allow for filling them in or? Thanks, Brad

It is no different than any other model in this respect. If you plan to paint her, then I would use a sharp X-acto and make them go away, sanding just opens up too much painted surface. If you go too deep, hit it with some Beacon Foam Finish to seal the cells before painting. They don't bother me, as the model is not a 5,000 dollar Bob Violet jet, and you expect a few "flowers" on a foam model, it is unavoidable. They are inset on the flaps, but whether this was a design implementation to help you make them go away, or just a fluke, who's to know? Maybe Alpha could shed some light on that.

The main gear axles, the best I can tell, are 8mm. They have a different mounting method. It isn't a C clip. The protruding silver portion in the photo is 8mm

"Rivet detail was a bamboo skewer, with the tip sanded flat to 1mm wide circle. Took about ten minutes for the entire aircraft. Press lightly, don't need to puncture. I just eyeballed the spacing, but I guess I'm good at that. In fact I've studied the aircraft so much that I know how many rivets are on the major panels. The spacing is not always the same. Bottom line, use a reference, and just poke the foam gently enough to depress it."

"Painting was same as my plastic models. Dark pre-shading along panel lines, then airbrushed lighter color starting from the center of each panel and working out to the panel line. Because the center gets more layers of paint, it's lighter than the panel areas, giving a realistic look."

There are no covers, what you see is what it is. All of the connections plug into the control board, and that plugs into your receiver. There are no Y cables to mess with.

Boy, Don't I feel dumb...:Drooling: The axle is 5mm, and it is removed with a set screw on the top (bottom) of the strut. It is 35mm long from the inside lip of the retaining end.

Don't feel dumb. Thanks again. Good to know the axle is 5mm as that is what I thought but now the question is for those who want to install brakes where to find 3.25" wheels on 5mm axles. I can find them on 4mm axles and I have some 5mm OD x .45mm wall brass tubing so it could be done but I wonder how well the 4mm axles would hold up on a bird this size. May be more trouble than it's worth.

The Pave Penny pod might make an easy removable camera mount. For me the coolest added option will be the vinyl engine covers (front and rear).
