  • I'm definitely going with the arctic camo. I've had several black models over the years and while yes Sun and temps are not their friend, as long as you take necessary precautions it's not really a big deal. Then again keep in mind this is someone born and raised in rainy Pacific Northwest.

    • Aros, you don't count as you hardly ever get to see the sun... LOL But I agree, as long as you are careful. I'm going with the "cool cat". This picture seems just a bit dark on the exposure so my colors will be a little less muted on the final product.

I have been with this thread from the beginning and would really like to have this plane, but my current unbuilt/project to do list is so long I just can't talk myself into buying it. Maybe in 2 years I can pick up one someone is tired of (as if that will ever happen)...Pete M
I also have a long list and have a goal of no (major) new acquisitions until I clear the list. But....it only takes 0.49 days to put together one of these RTF foam planes. So I can round that down to zero, and therefore they don't count. Just buy it.

Totally concur Gringo........and as a 5x cancer survivor here's my perspective, if you procrastinate what is already a short time here you'll take a dirt nap before the "maybe" happens.

Smooth as silk. besides all of the armament, it is a two piece fuse, two wings, two tails, and the elevator. Piece of cake. Everything screws on, no glue required. Easy peasy wing connection. The only thing I had any difficulty at all with was getting the connections into the board. It is pretty far back in the battery bay. If you have large hands, you are gonna want a pair of long needle-nose pliers to make it easier!!

You are so right! My kids are not expecting any money when the wife and I pass, we're spending it all to enjoy life and our hobbies. We earned it, we're spending it! :)

                • Mike,

Does the tail section get glued onto the main fuse, or is it also held in place with screws?

                  • This is a perfect example why I think it would be good to have the manual posted. As well as the Avantis'. Surely you can get to the board to unscrew and replace it right? Is it possible to remove the board, make all your connections and re-install it?

A bit surprised at this price range that she doesn't come with servo covers. I don't want to start bitchin before she gets here. - LOL

IMHO adding servo covers would be additional complexity without any value. My "servo cover" is a coat of paint on the side of the servo. Works great.

Yeah, let's start that conversation again.

Maybe if they stuck to the original $499 price I could see no servo covers. Can you believe Motion would do such a thing? I'm really upset about this. Is anyone else as upset as I am over the $549 price and no covers? I mean, come on, some one join me on this!!!

Ha, just pulling your leg Dave. I'll see you at the field when these babies arrive. A-10's over Lake Grapevine...Yeah baby!!!

I can certainly see an easy mod for covers if it's really necessary. I may work on that when it arrives.

Well, there you have it, the Freewing twin 80mm A-10 Thunderbolt II Super Scale 1700mm model!!

Like I said, if you guys have any questions, let me know, and I will do my best to get you some answers!!

                            Happy Landings guys!!;)
Mike, many were inquiring about the length of each wing to see if they fit inside the Hobby King wing bag. Would you measure th length of the wing for us, and I'll check th inside depth of my bag. I'm not too worried about because I have th Carbon Z Cub wings inside of mine, but they're much wider too. I'm wonderful no if the next size step down wing bag is suffice.

                            Thanks!

                            • 1700mm divide by two = 850mm (including the fuse). So if you got one of these, they will fit fine. The smaller 76cm one might as well, depending on the actual wing length.

Like someone said about air travel, "if you don't fly first class, your children will" . I've never actually flown first class but it would definitely lower your chances of being dragged off the plane bleedingLOLBrad P.S. I've seen parents hear who set there kids up with a big trust fund and most times it robs the kids of any initiative. They just wind up coasting and waiting for their parents to die. That would kill me if I thought for a minute that was happening, but no worries,I won't be giving them that dilemma. Brad

It also would have cost $700, had no gear doors, 5 blade fans, and a painted black foam canopy. Just sayin..;) But, yes I agree that servo mounts and covers would have been nice Especially since they were already present in many of the other Freewing jets.

Thanks Shirty, and that's why I was asking about the actual wing length itself. To see if a smaller bag would suffice. This larger bag is probably overkill for the A-10 wing. I can hear "The Donald" saying "It's HUGE"!
